This species is native to the Americas, as far north as Yukon and as far south as Peru. It has been introduced in Europe, New Zealand, and Caribbean islands.
A population of 700 white-tailed deer in Seneca, New York carries a recessive gene for an all-white coat. About 300 of the 700 deer express this gene.

Monastery of Batalha in Portugal or [Santa Maria da Vitória na Batalha](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batalha,_Portugal) was created to honor Virgin Mary for the victory of the Portuguese over the Castillian crown. 

After the death of Ferdinand I (1383), there was a succession war between Ferdinand's daughter Beatrice, queen of Castile and Ferdinand's half brother, John I. The battle of Aljubarrota was the decisive moment which marked the victory of John, the founding of the Aviz dynasty (1385-1580) and the beginning of military alliance between England and Portugal. This alliance is still active today (800 years old) and was used during the second world war.

The battle was also an important mark in the 100 years war. It was one of the many losses the French suffered. A trend that was changed later by Jeanne d'Arc.

An exceptionally valuable monument of sacred goldsmiths from the treasury of the Miechów monastery (Poland), which has survived to our times, is the richly decorated late-gothic silver chalice with a six-leaf foot. It is assumed that it was created around 1500, perhaps in a workshop in Hungary or in the capital city of Krakow. There are precious stones on the base of the chalice: sapphire, amethyst, ruby and emerald. In the upper part of the foot, figures of the Virgin Mary and an unknown saint are visible.

This raccoon baculum, or penis bone, has a groove near one end. This groove suggests 	that a cord was once tied around the object, probably to form a necklace. Male raccoons 	are known for their sexual aggression, which means this object may have been a fertility 	symbol. This object was recovered archaeologically from the House for Families at George Washington’s Mount Vernon. After the opening of the Prater in 1766, people settled on the edge of the Prater. In 1862 an elementary school was opened. The principal attached an image of the Virgin Mary to a large tree in 1863 because the nearest church was far away. Franz Plankenbüchler was an innkeeper and ran a restaurant at Freudenauer Dammhafen. Franz, a deeply religious man, often crossed himself before the image of the Virgin Mary during his walks. In 1911, he decided to erect a statue of the Virgin Mary in a good spot nearby. This was the beginning of today's place of pilgrimage, which also includes a church (Maria Grün) since 1924.

The shipwreck of the famed Civil War ironclad USS *Monitor* is located 16 miles off Cape Hatteras, N.C., in 240 feet of water. The *Monitor* is known for its participation in the Battle of Hampton Roads in 1862 when the USS *Monitor* fought the CSS *Virginia* to a stalemate, neither ship able to penetrate the others armor. While the battle may have been a draw, it did signal the end of wooden warships and ushered in a new era of naval warfare with metal hulled ships and rotating gun turrets. The shipwreck of the USS *Monitor* was discovered in 1973, and in 1975 became the nation's first National Marine Sanctuary.

My model of an approximation of a Central Pacific combine car. The car itself is patterned directly off of a Virginia & Truckee car, as plans were available for it, and the paint scheme is a derivative of standard CP schemes cross referenced with the V&T car's preserved design.

## Scanning
Scanning was done in sPC connected mode (WiFi, with latest update 120FPS speed) at a moderate high point distance of 0.15mm (can go up/down to 0.05mm but at 0.15mm it already resulted in a 20M triangle file...) until target quality was reached. Keep an eye on ideal scan distance since it reduces with increasing point distance. When you are too far away scanning will be drastically slower compared to when you're in the ideal distance. 

## Post-Processing
When finishing the single scans it already creates a point cloud so I only had to align using automatic feature alignment (after deleting all unnecessary data from around the object). Afterwards I used Quicksurface to align the scan to the coordinate system and reduce the triangle count to a manageable 4M triangles.

This mastodon bone was found with other bones near Yorktown, Virginia, and recovered by Dr. Gerald Johnson, retired geology professor at the College of William and Mary. It was 3D scanned with a Go!Scan 50 3-D scanner on January 7, 2019 at the Virginia Living Museum

## Scanning
Scanning was done in sPC connected mode (WiFi, with latest update 120FPS speed) at a moderate high point distance of 0.15mm (can go up/down to 0.05mm but at 0.15mm it already resulted in a 20M triangle file...) until target quality was reached.
I placed the casting on bed of marker cards and geometries so I can also capture the sides of the casting which I also use for aligning the two scans I created (top and bottom). The scan itself was performed with both cross and parallel line mode taking roughly 5min for scanning. No scan spray was used for scanning.

Afterwards I used Quicksurface to align the scan to the coordinate system and reduce the triangle count to a manageable 4M triangles.

Wax Portrait Virgin Mary - Einscan Rigil

The statue of Mary Immaculate in Ernstbrunn’s main square is a listed sandstone sculpture from the late 18th century, erected around 1790. It depicts the Virgin Mary in the typical representation of the “Immaculate Conception”: with her hands folded in prayer, standing on a globe and above a serpent, which symbolizes defeated evil. The flowing folds of her robe reflect the Baroque style of the time. The inscription “EX VOTO” on the base suggests that the statue was donated as a token of gratitude or a votive offering, perhaps after overcoming a time of hardship. As part of the redesign of the main square, the monument was restored in 2020 and is now a distinctive small religious monument in the townscape of Ernstbrunn.
