El Palacio de Bellas Artes es un recinto cultural ubicado en el Centro Histórico de la Ciudad de México, considerado el más importante en la manifestación de las artes en México y una de las casas de ópera más renombradas del mundo. Éste mismo ha sido escenario y testigo de impactantes acontecimientos tanto artísticos, sociales y políticos del país; su construcción data del final de mandato de Porfirio Díaz, por encargo del presidente mexicano con motivo de la celebración del centenario del inicio de la Independencia de México, más fue inaugurado hasta el 29 de septiembre de 1934 tras el estallido de la Revolución mexicana. Como institución, depende del Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes (INBA), parte de la Secretaría de Cultura del gobierno federal. En 1987 fue declarado por la Unesco un monumento patrimonio de la humanidad.

Pirene or Peirene is the name of a fountain or spring in Greek mythology, physically located in Corinth. It was said to be a favored watering-hole of Pegasus, sacred to the Muses. Poets would travel there to drink and receive inspiration.

In the 2nd century CE the traveler Pausanias describes Pirene as follows:

On leaving the market-place along the road to Lechaeum you come to a gateway, on which are two gilded chariots, one carrying Phaethon the son of Helius, the other Helius himself. A little farther away from the gateway, on the right as you go in, is a bronze Heracles.

Ancient Corinth sits in a strategic position between land and sea and the ancient Greek city came to prominence by controlling area trade routes. An important cultural center throughout history, the city was known for its artistic innovations and the ruins today show numerous Greek, Roman, and Byzantine architectural features. The heart of ancient Corinth was the Fountain of Peirene, a freshwater spring featured in Greek mythology which also served as the primary source of water for Corinth.

Established as the capital of unified Vietnam in 1802, Hue was not only the political but also the cultural and religious center under the Nguyen dynasty until 1945. The Hué Monuments Complex has suffered from the effects of wars, as well as modern development and expanding human settlements.

The Temple of Eshmun (Arabic: معبد أشمون‎) is an ancient place of worship dedicated to Eshmun, the Phoenician god of healing. It is located near the Awali river, 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) northeast of Sidon in southwestern Lebanon. The site was occupied from the 7th century BC to the 8th century AD, suggesting an integrated relationship with the nearby city of Sidon. For centuries, the Fountain of Peirene was a crucial source of fresh water for the city of Corinth. The Greeks and Romans considered it a sacred location where the great Pegasus was tamed by a local hero. The 3rd century facade that is still visible at the site today showcases the best of Roman architecture and engineering.

The ancient Mayan city of Tikal is located deep in the heart of Guatemala's El Petén rain forest, within Tikal National Park. The ancient city, covering an area greater than 16 sq km (6.2 sq mi), is the largest known ancient Maya city-complex dating to the Classic period. It is estimated to have had a peak population of 100,000 to 200,000 with an urban density of 600 to 700 people per square kilometer. During the Classic Maya period from 200 to 850 CE, Tikal flourished, becoming the preeminent political, economic, and military power in the region. At least 33 rulers oversaw the construction of numerous monuments, many of which remain to be uncovered.

The church was built during the First Bulgarian Empire, after the official conversion to Christianity. Some sources date the building of the church during the rule of Knyaz Boris I (852 – 889).
Originally a synod church of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, later of the Archbishopric of Ohrid, it was subsequently converted into a mosque during the rule of the Ottoman Empire.

*Tomb of Tự Đức (Vietnamese: Lăng Tự Đức), officially Khiêm Mausoleum (Khiêm Lăng, Hán tự: 謙陵), is located in Huế, Vietnam. It is built for the Nguyễn Emperor Tự Đức and took three years to build from 1864–1867. It is divided into a Temple Area and a Tomb Area.*

*Emperor Tu Duc enjoyed the longest reign of any monarch of the Nguyen dynasty, ruling from 1848-1883. Although he had 104 wives and concubines, he was unable to father a son (possibly he became sterile after contracting smallpox). Standing offshore from the island of Naxos in the Cycladic archipelago, the Temple of Apollo or Portara is an unfinished temple facing Delos, the birthplace of the Ancient Grecian god Apollo. Myth has it that the small island was the spot where Ariadne, the Minoan princess was abandoned by her lover, Theseus after he killed the Minotaur.
Conceived by the tyrant Lygdamis, the temple was intended to be the largest building in all of Greece however he was overthrown in 506 BCE and the project was abandoned. The temple was later converted into a church in the 5th and 6th centuries, but by the time the island of Naxos came under Venetian and Ottoman rule, the church was dismantled. The only part of the structure that remains today are parts of the foundation and the large monumental doorway.

For over 200 years, Brandenburg Gate has been an icon for a transforming German identity. Brandenburg Gate was commissioned by Prussian Emperor Frederick William II, to represent peace at the end of the 18th Century. When Napoleon invaded Berlin in 1806, he sacked the bronze quadriga and took it back to Paris. After Napoleon's defeat, the quadriga was returned, with an added Iron Cross to commemorate the victory.

The Mosques at the Historic City of Bagerhat are touchstones for understanding the early influences of Islam in Bangladesh and diversity of architectural style in Southeast Asia. The monuments at Bagerhat are some of the finest examples of the Khan Jahan style, named after the Sufi Saint who founded the city in the mid 15th century. With few options for building materials in the area, builders of the city utilized their expertise in brick making. The 60 Dome Mosque is one of 360 buildings that once stood in Bagerhat. Today, the mosque remains an important place of worship for local residents and visitors throughout Bangladesh and the world.
