This magnificent armour made [King Erik XIV](https://bit.ly/2XHLbZ0) of Sweden look imposingly triumphant. In true renaissance spirit, the motifs on the armour were borrowed from ancient myths, the characteristics of which lent themselves perfectly to the Swedish history and national symbols of that time.

The armour was probably made in [Arboga](https://bit.ly/2FQKrGy), Sweden, around 1562, from where it was sent to Antwerp in Belgium to be decorated by the goldsmith Elisaeus Libaerts. The opaque gilt ornamentation has been [repousséd](https://bit.ly/2xuxmy0) from the back and chased from the front. 

Perhaps the armour was worn by King Erik XIV on 2 October 1564 when, following a military campaign in [Blekinge](https://bit.ly/2KUVNNQ) in the South of Swedan, he returned to Stockholm with his military entourage. Whilst winding its way through the streets of Stockholm, the procession was showcasing chained prisoners of war from Denmark, a motif that can also be found on the armour.

The statue of Edward Snowden, called by its creators Prison Ship Martyrs' Monument 2.0, was an ephemeral, illegally-installed public statue of Edward Snowden, an American whistleblower who leaked classified information from the National Security Agency (NSA) and was charged with federal crimes as a result. The bronze-like statue was placed in Fort Greene Park in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, New York City, on April 6, 2015. It was attached to a Doric column on the perimeter of the park's Prison Ship Martyrs' Monument, a memorial and which honors more than 11,500 American prisoners of war who died in the American Revolution.

The statue was mounted by three anonymous artists and their helpers, who were dressed in white helmets and reflective vests of Parks Department workers, early in the morning of April 6, then covered and taken down by NYC Parks officials later that day.

Edward Snowden At Fort Greene Park

After 60 hours of hard work, and dedication, the scene is finally complete. I've really pushed myself to create as much detail and variety as possible. All the weapons, and most of the shields, the characters are all different. Everything has been touched by hand In an effort to reduce automation and create a most authentic work.

I had a lot of fun making this! And I really enjoy seeing the works of others.

Thor and the Midgard Serpent

This prison facility in Mekit county, Kashgar was newly constructed following the crackdown in 2017. It has been constructed next to two lower security camps. 
This model is based satellite imagery taken in March 2020. Which showed it to be active considerably after announcements by Xinjiang officials that all detainees had been released.

The panopticon is a type of institutional building and a system of control designed by the English philosopher and social theorist Jeremy Bentham around 1785. The design allows all prisoners to be observed by a single security guard, without the inmates knowing whether they are being watched.

Panopticon: A Round Prison

This tier 2 re-education camp in Kashgar's Yenhisheher (Shule) county was constructed following the 2017 crackdown in Xinjiang. It regularly expanded throughout 2017 and 2018. It has been slightly desecuritised throughout 2019, and no longer has as extensive internal barriers to movement. It is co-located with another re-education camp and a prison.

Yengisheher #7 - Tier 2 Re-education Camp

This is a high security detention centre in Onsu (Wensu) county, Aksu prefecture, in Xinjiang. It was constructed throughout 2018, following the crackdown in 2017, and showed the construction of two new five storey residential buildings in August 2019. This highlights the way in which the camp has shown continued expansion in recent years. 
The detention centre is co-located with a separate detention centre and a maximum security prison.

United States Penitentiary, Alcatraz Island, also known simply as Alcatraz or The Rock, was a maximum security federal prison on Alcatraz Island, 1.25 miles (2.01 km) off the coast of San Francisco, California, United States. The site of a fort since the 1850s, the main prison building was built in 1910–12 as a U.S. Army military prison.

The United States Department of Justice acquired the United States Disciplinary Barracks, Pacific Branch, on Alcatraz on October 12, 1933. The island became adapted and used as a prison of the Federal Bureau of Prisons in August 1934 after the buildings were modernized and security increased. Given this high security and the island's location in the cold waters and strong currents of San Francisco Bay, prison operators believed Alcatraz to be escape-proof and America's most secure prison.

Mount Clare is a five-part Georgian Palladian plantation house located at Carroll Park in Baltimore. It was built in 1754 and is the oldest standing structure in the city. Currently, the house operates as a museum and is undergoing reinterpretation by a [commission appointed in 2021](https://www.baltmccpc.com/) to study the enslaved, indentured and imprisoned laborers who lived and worked at Mount Clare and a nearby ironworks.

[Lanhoso Castle](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castle_of_Lanhoso) was an important line of defense, protecting Portugal against the influnce of the Kingdom of Leon (spanish kingdom). In the 12th century, Theresa Queen of Portugal was besieged in this castle, as she rebelled against her half sister. Portugal had vassalic ties with the crown of Leon. She lost the battle and Portugal remained a vassal state. She allied with noblemen of Galicia (another spanish kingdom) which displeased the Portugese court. Because of that she was later ordered to be imprisoned in the tower of the Lanhoso castle, by her son.  

From the castle, only the tower remains. The cause of this destruction was the great great grand father of the famous portugese general, saint constable, who burned the castle down, as he found out that his wife cheated on him there. The fire killed the lovers, servants and the life stocks. The castle was abonded as it lost its strategical importance.

Lanhoso Castle

This model shows one of two prison cells of the town of Picón (Ciudad Real, Spain). Its construction dates from the 16th century, and it is one of the few examples that are preserved in the La Mancha region.

This model was created from 17 scans from a FARO Focus X330 laser scanner. These data were aligned and exported in FARO SCENE and the meshing and final processing was in Meshlab.

The data for this project were collected in 2017 as a joint effort between the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM), the Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK) and CVAST at the University of South Florida (USF) under the legal permission of Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha (Expte. 16.0834-P1. Sistema de documentación 3D del Patrimonio Cultural de Castilla-La Mancha). The project is now managed by UCLM and Global Digital Heritage (GDH). UCLM project co-Director Dr. Víctor Manuel López-Menchero Bendicho
