Lion Crushing a Serpent (1832)
by Antoine-Louis Barye (1796 - 1875)

Although his contemporaries criticized his style and his choice of animal subjects, Barye is today esteemed as the founder of the Parisian animaliers.
The noble lion, representing the new King and the people of France, is shown in a triumphant struggle against the serpent, symbolizing Charles X (reigned 1824–1830) and the ousted Bourbon dynasty. The pair additionally suggests a celestial sanction for Louis-Philippe’s reign by alluding to the constellations of Leo (the lion) and Hydra (the sea serpent), which “ruled the heavens” during the days of the July Revolution (July 27-30, 1830).

The scanned sculpture is a copy made by Guy Hain, who is a French art forger who produced number of fake bronze sculptures.
The Lion is located by the entrance of Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek in Copenhagen.

Stellaris Fallen Empire Juggernaut

This is a 3D model of a **Sling tailed Agama lizard** (*Stellagama stellio cypriaca*) scanned using the Beastcam MACRO on a live lizard in Cyprus. The mass of the lizard is 78 grams. CG artist **Jer Bot** retopologized and reconstructed the snake in the open source 3D animation software Blender (blender.org). He did this through images captured using an array of six Canon G16 cameras and other reference photos.  The construction of this model is part of the post-doc research of Dr. **Savvas Zotos** (POST-DOC/0916/0034)(https://retrack.terracypria.org) and is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the Republic of Cyprus through the Research and Innovation Foundation. This 3D model will be used as a means for both studying and presenting the species movement and behavioural patterns.

Here's a visualization of 688 exoplanets from [NASA's exoplanet catalog](https://go.nasa.gov/2y0sll0) (which contains 4152 exoplanets as of April 28th, 2020), done with Python and Blender.

**Disclaimer:** I filtered the exoplanets according to parameters of interest ("only" kept 688), and spent some time recomputing parameters (such as surface gravity or temperature) while re-learning some "basic" black-body radiation and orbital mechanics equations, before mapping the resulting parameters to positions and textures in Blender. The values in this visualization are therefore approximations (and should not be used for interstellar navigation &#128517;).

Kang Jin Long - Introduction

Kang Jin Long, belonging to the dragon, is Kang. Protected by the big horn, it is one of the twenty-eight constellations in Chinese mythology and the second constellation in the east. It is the god of wind, like a fire bead, located at the neck position in the Canglong constellation, and is the essence of the Canglong, so it is named Kangjinlong. Its appearance and temperament are similar to those of a dragon. It is long, has scales, can fly, and is good at walking. In ancient books, people often see it playing in the water.

In "The Romance of the Gods", its original name is Li Daotong. After being killed in the Ten Thousand Immortals Formation, it was deified.

In "Journey to the West", it once helped Sun Wukong escape from the golden cymbals.

The 19th century western constellations are projected on the earth for navigation references.
By building your city under the projected trajectory of a star at a specific time. Now you can navigate, from land to sea, and from city to city.  By checking the map you can still see that some cities have been founded with this principle in mind. This was the antiquity GPS system. far more reliable than the modern one. This is why the medieval astrological projections are inverted. Because it is not to document the sky, but to document the "where about" on earth. By also knowing the cyclic derivation of a selected star (around 15 meters par year), you can also deduce the date of the city foundation as long as you have the correct data.
