Caernarfon Castle (Welsh: Castell Caernarfon), often anglicized as Carnarvon Castle, is a medieval fortress in Caernarfon, Gwynedd, north-west Wales cared for by Cadw, the Welsh Government's historic environment service. There was a motte-and-bailey castle in the town of Caernarfon from the late 11th century until 1283 when King Edward I of England began replacing it with the current stone structure.

A motte-and-bailey remnant behind Newton-le-Willows. Accessible through muddy field and under motorway tunnel. Quite a camber on the site, it is still tranquil and impressive despite being next to a dual carriageway and strewn with cans of Monster Energy drink and discarded vape cannisters. Excuse low quality, am still trying to find a good capture app for iPhone 17 Pro, default camera AI mush and alternatives like FinalCutCam not better. I prefer using Metashape to on-device solutions but am open to suggestions.

Castle Dykes (motte & bailey), Northamptonshire

Norman era motte and bailey castles  on the Derbyshire side of the River Dove. The site is a Scheduled Monument and this drone survey is part of the regular condition survey of the site carried out by the Peak District National Park Cultural Heritage Team, for whom I volunteer.
