Gresham castle was built by Sir Edmund Bacon in 1319, but it stood on the site of an earlier castle. It was forty metres square with round corner towers and a surrounding moat. It pass to the ownership of the Paston family who faced considerable argument and armed oppression in seeking to retain it and Margaret Paston recalls in her letters how Lord Moleyns attacked the castle with an overwhelming force and threw her out. The Paston family did eventually recover ownership and a letter of one of the John Paston's suggests he was looking at the possibility of rebuilding what Moleyns' men had knocked down. However, this was not to be and today, under considerable vegetation, only a metre to a metre and a half of the flint walls remain. In stands on private land and is watched by English Heritage. In the course of the Paston Footprints project, a 3D model of the building is being constructed on screen and the drone photography for this image is part of that process.

This specimen is part of a larger collection of artifacts that was acquired in 1929 by James Bell Bullitt during a tour of western Europe and later donated to the University of North Carolina. "Brown Bess" is a nickname of uncertain origin for the British Army's muzzle-loading smoothbore flintlock Land Pattern Musket and its derivatives. The musket design remained in use for over a hundred years with many incremental changes in its design. These versions include the Long Land Pattern, the Short Land Pattern, the India Pattern, the New Land Pattern Musket, and the Sea Service Musket.

Golden Flintlock Pistol

Gravröset undersöktes sommaren 2025. Det var ca 13 meter i diameter och nästan 0,8 meter högt, men såg mycket högre ut från sydost där man utnyttjat bergets sluttande form. I modellen syns den övre stenpackningen som var uppbyggd av 0,2–0,5 meter stora stenar. Under denna fanns ytterligare ett skikt med mindre stenar. Kol från botten av röset har daterats till 1050-800 f Kr, det vill säga yngre bronsålder. Här hittades också en flintskrapa, men inga mänskliga kvarlevor var bevarade.

Radiolarite is an aquagenic sedimentary rock whose composition consists mainly of microcrystalline quartz.

The artefact shown is a blade core made of yellow and light grey flint. The core was utilised as a raw material in the fabrication of precision cutting tools, including knives, drills and arrowheads.

Flint eccentric with a grayish coloration mottled with gray and black spots, shaped to resemble a key. It features an elongated distal end and lateral notches on either side, positioned between the circular element and the projecting tip.

Flint Eccentric

Count Ioannis Kapodistrias (1776–1831) was a distinguished Greek diplomat and statesman. Born in Corfu, he served as Foreign Minister of the Russian Empire and played a key role in European diplomacy. In 1827 he was elected the first Governor of independent Greece. He is widely regarded as the founder of the modern Greek state for his tireless efforts in organizing the new nation after the 1821 Revolution. He was assassinated in Nafplio in 1831.  This is a free miniature available to everyone and not limited to subscribers. Instead of the pure historical sculpture I have decided to give all these characters a more stylized look with an action hero orientation. So in this particular instance, Count Kapodistrias comes with a flintlock pistol which he could have carried at some point during his life although I dont have any sources that point to that directly.
