This is another of my what-if concepts. What if we had to combine the basic geometry and grip of a katana, with the length and guard of a renaissance rapier. And make it double-edged :)

Euro-Asian long-sword mash-up concept

Oeuvre de François-Joseph Bosio (1768-1845). Le bronze  (H. : 2,60 m. ; L. : 2,10 m. ; Pr. : 0,95 m) a été fondu en 1824 fondu par Carbonneaux conservée au Louvre.
Le sujet est tiré des Métamorphoses d'Ovide : Achéloüs était le rival d'Hercule pour l'amour de Déjanire ; au cours du combat, Achéloüs se transforma en serpent mais fut vaincu par Hercule. Ainsi Hercule se fit-il aimer de Déjanire. Par la suite, essayant de raviver l'amour qu'il lui portait, Déjanire offrit à Hercule une tunique imprégnée du sang de Nessus qui, au lieu d'être un philtre d'amour, se révéla être un brûlant poison.
La reconstruction 3D prête à l'impression a été réalisée à partir d'une série de photos fournies par "OPOIAK" qui a lui-même publier sur Sketchfab en utilisant Autodesk 123D pour la mise en forme.
Pour tenter de suppimer les quelques défauts du travail d' "OPOIAK" j'ai tenté une reconstruction en utilisant successivement "Reality Capture", puis "Autodesk Remake", puis "Autodesk Netfabb" et enfin "Autodesk Meshmixer".

The sword is forged from iron, and has an iron scabbard. It is characterised by a hilt with remnants of wood, a small rivet, a spherical pommel with volute decorations, a crossguard featuring a roof-shaped metal plate with spiral volutes, and a rivet securing the plate. The scabbard has a  roof-shaped mouth. On the front are two connected decorative rivets with a gold sheet rivet, coral overlay, below that sheet metal with volutes and below that a triangular, openwork net ornament. Several circular elements can be seen on the sides. The back features a profiled bar, accompanied by a small triangular net ornament backed with gold sheet.

This object was digitized through the ‘Kulturerbe digital’ program of the Federal Ministry for Arts, Culture, Public Service and Sport.

The Blade of Artemis (if the devs kept the original design in mind), the best version in my opinion. Blade made using the lvl 3 design from God of War (2005), hilt made using the design from God of War Ascension (2013)

In the beginning of the XIX century the list of award weapons was increased with sabers that begun to be used along with small swords. By this time, the appearance of the "golden weapons" was finally worked out. At the hilt of the officer's weapons of major-generals and equal to them naval ranks was made the inscription "For Brawery". Weapons of higher ranks had inscription explaining the reason of awarding.

This model is inspired by the Sandai Kitetsu as seen in One Piece, featuring its distinctive crimson hilt, traditional katana proportions, and a sharp, lethal silhouette that reflects its cursed reputation. Sandai Kitetsu is a cursed katana from the legendary Kitetsu line, infamous for bringing misfortune and death to its wielders.
