VR Room [Light Baked]

A large room in the (upper part of) Wakefield Tower at the Tower of London. Built in the early 13th Century by King Henry III.

Sign in alcove reads: "KING HENRY III's PALACE. This is the Wakefield Tower, one of the oldest parts of the medieval palace. King Henry III, Edward I's father ordered this tower to be built in 1220. It was part of a grand new riverside palace for when the King and Queen stayed at the Tower. This important room was separated from the small private chapel by a wooden screen. The painted decoration, textiles, screen and throne are all modern replicas, copied from real objects, manuscript, illuminations and descriptions in documents from the 1200s. The stone vaulted ceiling was added in the 1800s.

Wakefield Tower Room

A bodhisattva is a "promised enlightenment," but delays its entrance into nirvana to help all living beings to attain illumination. The crystalline pupils are made of rock crystal. Such care is justified by the fact that the consecration of a Buddhist statue consisted in opening his eyes ritually. This ceremony gave him a soul and made it an object of worship. The tiara in her hair, the necklace on her chest, the drapery retained at the waist by an elaborate belt are the image of the historical Buddha, Shakyamuni. The bodhisattva originally stood in a temple next to a larger Buddha. The present presentation at the museum aims to restore the oblique angle of vision under which it appeared to the visitor in the Chinese sanctuary.

This Type T Brown Dwarf 3D model represents a cold, dim substellar object that exists between a gas giant and a true star.
