poppy tongue

This is the common predator to the anemone deer, as it uses the lure within its mouth to attract unsuspecting prey. Many scholars mistake the lure for it's tongue but it is actually a seperate appendage used specifically for hunting and mating purposes.

Here is number eight in my animal anatomy exploration project. I had dinosaur on the brain, and thought it was necessary to do a bipedal one. I also added some angler fish motif to it.

It incorporated latest inventions in itself, like a very touchy nose and perfectly balanced between sweetness and grossiness wetness of the tongue.

Now that I feel a bit sure in what I'm doing when trying to pose and map sculpts, here is one I did back when I started trying out digital modelling.

Tapeworm Tongue

Recumbent 15th-century chamfered cross-slab grave-cover measuring 1.9m long by 0.09m thick, the base of the slab measures 0.64m wide which narrows to 0.54m, in the south-east corner of the chancel of Portumna Dominican Friary church (GA127-019----), Co. Galway. Chamfered slab the top of which has a sunburst-motif with human face representing Christ flanked by a serpent/monster with open jaws, dotted body and curving tail which runs across onto the the sunurst motif.  A triangular-shaped motif above the open jaws may represent the tongue of the serpent with fish beneath. Above this there is an eight pointed encircled rosette and an eight armed encircled cross between which there are two human heads above which there is a base for the shaft of the central cross.  Two four cornered knots either side of the shaft of the central cross which forms the centre of six rows of three encircled crosses with vine leaf terminals representing the blood of Christ. The ring is fitted with a setting. The setting has an irregular square shape with a flat base. Noteworthy features include the relatively high, diverging rear bezel and the high, grooved, converging front bezel, which has a raised edge. The setting contains an irregularly cut, semi-opaque dark blue sapphire cabochon. The ring band has an oval cross-section with a uniform change in width. The ring shoulders are depicted as highly detailed, sculptural animal heads with open mouths and tongues.

This object was digitized through the ‘Kulturerbe digital’ program of the Federal Ministry for Arts, Culture, Public Service and Sport.

Codex style vase with an underworld scene. One side has a jaguar standing, surrounded by star symbols, with its jaws open, its tongue sticking out and wearing a sacrificial or wahy [way or waay] scarf. On the other side, the torso of a character with a black headdress decorated with the upper jaw of a long-lipped monster and long feathers inside of, what appears to be, a structure made of bones. The character is surrounded by nucleated eyes and has round earflares, a necklace of made of eyeballs, a square breastplate, and wristbands made of beads. The right arm is bent over the chest and the left holds a triadic plate with a femur, a severed hand and a nucleated eye.

Codex-style Vase w/ Jaguar & Stars

Bichrome urn with lid, featuring the face of a deity, possibly Chaac, the rain god. The face displays eyes with staff-shaped irises, a slightly open mouth with a protruding tongue, and volutes emerging from the corners. Two lateral and vertical flanges on each side form the earspools. The lid features a handle shaped like a water bird holding a fish in its beak. The entire decoration is executed using modeling, appliqué, and black paint techniques.

Anteaters are the four extant mammal species in the suborder Vermilingua[1] (meaning 'worm tongue'), commonly known for eating ants and termites. The individual species have other names in English and other languages. Together with sloths, they are within the order Pilosa. The name "anteater" is also commonly applied to the aardvark, numbat, echidnas, and pangolins, although they are not closely related to them.

Tiquisate vase, modeled and decorated in relief, light brown in color. The main decorative panel depicts two standing figures shown in left profile, positioned on diametrically opposite sides of the vessel. Both figures present flexed, raised arms and are surrounded by images of serpents with bifurcated tongues. They wear cloth headdresses, necklaces and wristbands composed of circular beads, as well as loincloths and cloth belts tied at the front. NAA of the ceramic paste indicates the Pacific Coast of Guatemala as the place of origin or manufacture.

Tongue Chair

Rock 12, the is the largest area of exposed bedrock at Seradina and, with its hundreds of carvings, constitutes an exceptional window on the world of the Iron Age Valcamonica tribes.

The wide surface is one of the most important and well-known in the whole of Valcamonica rock art and is marked by themes which make it unique in the context of the local Iron Age.

The central part of the rock is occupied by the imposing scene of a procession of spear-holding horsemen hunting deer and followed by dogs.  The dogs are unusually represented with their jaws wide open and tongue clearly visible.  The hunting horsement theme is not uncommon in the rock art areas of middle Valcamonica and may probably underline the aristocratic status of the carved figures.  Their high social status and wealth is illustrated by their possession of a horse, which constituted a rare and precious commodity in prehistoric times.
