In late February 2023, the SCDNR Archaeology team was informed that a section of a 19th century corduroy road had been exposed and was rapidly eroding from the Pockoy Island shoreline located on Botany Bay Plantation Heritage Preserve/Wildlife Management Area. This feature was photoscanned during monthly shoreline monitoring of Pockoy Island from March to August 2023 to document the extent of the resource for digital preservation, and to document another example of the impacts coastal erosion has on Pockoy Island.
