The barrels are cut down to 10–12 inches, and the stock is often partially or fully removed. Ballistics are severely degraded: the shot spreads into a wide, unpredictable pattern effective only at 5–15 meters (15–45 feet). Recoil becomes sharp and violent due to reduced weight. Aiming is crude. It is useless for hunting but notorious as a close-quarters weapon. The single-trigger mechanism still works, but reloading is awkward without a full stock.
