* The fine [USGS](https://www.usgs.gov/) monitoring on the US west-coast, in Hawaii and in the Aleutian Trench (North Pacific), where even the smallest events (purple) are recorded.

Seismic data comes from the [Earthquake Catalog](https://earthquake.usgs.gov/fdsnws/event/1/), and was processed in Python.

An accurate reproduction of a long forgotten biplane.

The phrase “”More lost than Lieutenant Bello” (“Más perdido que el Teniente Bello”) is a part of Chile’s linguistic heritage and refers to someone who loses their way quite badly.  Yet where did the phrase come from?  Well, it turns out the “Lieutenant Bello” saying pays homage to an early aviator whose full name was Alejandro Bello Silva and who was one of the Chilean military’s very first military pilots.  As you might imagine, Lt. Bello did indeed get lost while flying — so lost, in fact, that his airplane and his body have never been found, even to this day.

This is the story of the mystery of Lt. Alejandro Bello Silva’s disappearance. 99 years ago today in aviation history.  On March 9, 1914, Lt. Bello took off into the fog and clouds on his final flight to qualify for his military aviator wings — and simply disappeared.

The animated version of the [Earthquake map for the years 2010 and 2011](https://skfb.ly/6Mnsn) ([this model](https://skfb.ly/6MnyD) showing every earthquake since the year 2000 might also interest you ;) ).

The animation spans on the whole two years: a frame represents 6 days, and at 0.5x speed (the default value), one second is therefore equivalent to three months of data.

Although the main seismic zones are more easily visible on the static version of the visualization, the animation clearly helps to identify the earthquakes of February 2010 in Chile and March 2011 in Japan, which appear as bright "flashes".

Their respective aftershocks - spanning on a few weeks/months - are also visible and clearly showcase the relaxing of mechanical constraints in the subduction zones.

In the oral traditions of Chile’s coastal regions, particularly among Mapuche communities, there exists a long-whispered legend of ghostly beings that walk the shores before and during catastrophes. These entities had no formal name for centuries - only described in fragments and murmurs passed from survivor to survivor.

It wasn’t until the 27F Earthquake in 2010 that a term gained traction: “Muru”, a word meaning complaint or warning in Mapudungun. Survivors, particularly in Talcahuano, Dichato, and Curanilahue, began using this term to refer to the strange, faceless entities seen walking in the waves before the tsunami struck.

Photogrammetry of the entrance to Baquedano Metro Station after 48 days of social conflict in Santiago of Chile (SCL), VR ready.

One of my first photogrammetry ,250 photos captured with a Canon T3 , iso 3200 F11  1/200  at max resolution i think, at 8pm on December 4th.

Processed with MESHROOM , with 1 million vertices, LSCM texture at 8K.

Cleaned up a little with 3ds Max but the mesh was kinda rebel, always came up with holes from meshroom.
