Built in 1898 on [Foula](http://tinyurl.com/y6hgdtlb), one of the most remote islands in the Shetland archipelago, this traditional fishing vessel (known in the Shetland as a 'fourareen') was made from pieces of driftwood. 

The crofter who built "Venus" used boat building techniques that had been passed down from generation to genaration and were similar to those used by Vikings on their Longboats.
"Venus" would have been used by the crofter to catch fish and  collect flotsam and jetsam from the sea.

In 1964 it was bought by Paul Earling Johnstone who gave it a deck and tiny cabin and a Bermudan yawl rig, converting it into a yacht. He used it for long distance ocean sailing (including a single-handed trip across the Atlantic in 1965) and it remained in storage in Savannah until 1982, when it became part of the collections of the [Scottish Maritime Museum.](http://www.scottishmaritimemuseum.org/)

Modelo 3D a partir de levantamiento fotogramétrico de la momia indígena de Gran Canaria Nº 8 perteneciente a la colección de **[El Museo Canario](http://www.elmuseocanario.com)**. 

La información contenida en las anotaciones recoge los resultados de las investigaciones llevadas a cabo por Teresa Delgado, Javier Velasco y Verónica Alberto en el marco del proyecto **«Momias. Biografías en 3D»** desarrollado por El Museo Canario. 

Los trabajos de levantamiento fotogramétrico y postproceso del modelo 3D han sido llevados a cabo por la empresa

Corresponde a un hombre de 25-30 años de edad, con múltiples fracturas óseas por una caída desde gran altura que le causó la muerte. La datación lo sitúa entre los siglos V y VI cal. d.C.
La mortaja destaca por la abundancia de pieles, reflejo probable de su relevancia social.

El modelo corresponde a una momia de mujer mayor de 50 años, datada entre el 670-675 d.C. Fue recuperada en una cueva funeraria colectiva de Acusa (Artenara) en la década de 1930. Het reliëf in het borduurwerk wordt gevormd door diverse lagen van leder en een natuurkleurig weefsel. De textiele bekleding aan de binnenzijde van het schrijn bestaat uit een ‘opgespannen’ rode zijde die ter bevestiging gelijmd en genageld is aan het hout. Een passement bevindt zich ter hoogte van de bovenboord.
