This 3D skull model was created by laser scanning the Museum's iconic *Diplodocus carnegii* cast.

Dippy was the first *Diplodocus* (DIP-low-DOCK-us) to go on display anywhere in the world when it was gifted to the Museum in 1905. It quickly became a star, capturing hearts and imaginations.
Dippy then left the Museum in 2017 to complete a whirlwind tour of the UK. The skeleton will be on display at the Museum from 27 May until 2 January 2023.

To mark this event, we have prepared a set of 3D printable files which can be downloaded and printed on a conventional desktop 3D printer and assembled to create a three-quarter scale model of the skull, or a model which can be compiled from laser cut sections of cardboard.

Laser Cutter

This intricate 3D model is a small vessel style burner crafted from patinated aged brass. The piece features a deep tarnished gold luster with subtle verdigris in the crevices giving it a weathered antique appearance. Its removable pointed lid creates a conical silhouette ending in a sharp decorative finial. The body and top are punctuated by ornate laser cut geometric holes designed to allow fragrant smoke to drift out in delicate plumes. Inside the base is perfectly leveled to hold a single incense cone. This asset adds a touch of mystical or traditional atmosphere to digital altars spa environments or cozy interior renders.

This handheld maze is a masterclass in material contrast featuring a precision engineered laser cut wood base where the intricate paths are defined by deep charred dark end grains left by the heat of the laser. The complex labyrinth is encased beneath a crystal clear plexiglass top which provides a smooth transparent window into the puzzle while protecting the small metallic ball within.
