Early medieval nasal helmet

Yunnan Province, China, ~518 million years old.

*Myllokunmingia* had a head with a pair of eyes and a nasal opening, up to six pairs of **gills** housed in pouches on the lower surface of the head, and a **dorsal fin** supported by stiff radial rods. It also had **Z-shaped blocks of muscle** and would have been able to swim freely through the water by moving its body side-to-side like a fish.

Myllokunmingia fengjiaoa

Fragmentary sculpture worked in modeled stucco, corresponding to the lower half of an anthropomorphic face. It exhibits a pinkish coloration and a mouth with full lips, slightly open and showing the teeth. The nasal septum, cheeks, and chin are clearly defined.

Effigy vessel in the form of a Long-Beaked Bird

Anthropomorphic whistle with a double chamber and double mouthpiece, with the face and head of a male character or deity. He wears a headdress with feathers towards the left side, round earflares and scarification decoration on the nasal septum. The piece is polychrome with the mouthpiece and tone holes on the top of the headdress. Traces of red, blue and white paint.

Anthropomorphic whistle

Vasija asimétrica antropomorfa con decoración incisa y pintada en color rojo.  La cabeza presenta un rostro con sus rasgos en relieve. La línea de las cejas se inician en las orejas y se unen al centro del rostro dando origen a la nariz de tabique recto y dos preforaciones circulares que representan orificios nasales. Las orejas se han logrado mediante relieve y dos anchas perforaciones. Los ojos en forma de grano de café con una incisión central y la boca sobresaliente y de forma similar a los ojos. La superficie pulida presenta decoraciones incisas de líneas zigzagueantes de color negro y pintura roja aplicada post cocción. Cultura Llolleo. Donado en 1980 Juan Francisco Vargas	y procede de San Antonio.
