The Fame of Hoorn wrecked during a storm in January 1631, she capsized and began to break up on the shallow sandbanks, all 45 crew survived the wreck but the ship was not so lucky. after the storm abated the locals pillaged the wreckage and the Poole Admiratly order the wreck to be cleared. it is thought that this section broke off from the main site at this time and washed up on Studland Beach a few hundred metres to the north.
