The figure depicts a childlike putto—a common motif in Baroque art—who, despite his youthful appearance, is armed. With his sword raised and protective shield, he embodies the exciting contrast between innocence and defensiveness. The lively movement is typical of the Baroque style: the slightly twisted body, the play of fabric and the expressive posture lend the statue dynamism and presence.
