This vessel features a slightly convex lid, crowned by a handle modeled in the shape of a water bird —identified as a cormorant— with its head and neck emerging in high relief and its beak open. Held within the beak is a small fish, whose surface bears delicate incisions suggesting scales, while its tail, rendered in relief, extends across the lid. On either side of the bird’s head, finely incised wings stretch across the lid’s surface, evoking the motion of swimming over water. The bowl is decorated with panels of crossed lines, echoing the natural pattern found beneath the bird’s wings. The vessel’s body has a gently outward-curving wall, a basal molding, and rests on three cylindrical supports.
