The great hammerhead is the largest species of hammerhead shark, belonging to the family Sphyrnidae, attaining a maximum length of 6.1 m . It is found in tropical and warm temperate waters worldwide, inhabiting coastal areas and the continental shelf. The great hammerhead can be distinguished from other hammerheads by the shape of its "hammer", which is wide with an almost straight front margin, and by its tall, sickle-shaped first dorsal fin.

Mount Carmel is a coastal mountain range in northern Israel stretching from the Mediterranean Sea towards the southeast. A number of towns are situated there, most notably the city of Haifa, Israel's third largest city, located on the northern and western slopes. The range is a UNESCO biosphere reserve. 

Due to the lush vegetation on the sloped hillside, and many caves on the steeper side, Carmel became the haunt of criminals. In ancient Canaanite culture, high places were frequently considered to be sacred, and Mount Carmel appears to have been no exception.  

In mainstream Jewish, Christian, and Islamic thought, Elijah is associated with the mountain, and he is regarded as having sometimes resided on the mountain.  The Bible's book of 1 Kings 18, records a showdown between Elijah and the prophets of Baal. In that account, the God of Elijah sends fire from heaven to consume a sacrifice of testing, proving which diety is the true and living one.  The event takes place on this mountain.   -Nate Loper

Caerhun (Roman Canovium) was founded somewhere around 77-78 AD during Agricola's campaigns in North Wales. It lies at a strategic crossing on the west bank of the River Conwy and also controlled the coastal road between the legionary fortresses at Chester (Deva) and Caernarfon (Segontium). The auxiliary unit which occupied the fort is not known, but a tile of the 20th Legion is reported to have been found in 1696. 

The fort was remodelled in the 2nd century AD with a stone-walled face replacing the earlier clay and rubble rampart. The fort was potentially abandoned for a while after 150 AD, but finds of 3rd and 4th century AD  date suggest occupation at this time. The church of St. Mary's in the north east corner of the fort overlies former barrack blocks and is believed to be early Medieval in origin, but the fabric visible today dates to between the 13th and 19th centuries. 

The dry weather has caused the grass to die back over buried wall features which now appear as light brown markings in the grass

**The pyjama shark or striped-catshark is a species of catshark, and part of the family Scyliorhinidae, endemic to the coastal waters of South Africa. This abundant, bottom-dwelling species can be found from the intertidal zone to a depth of around 100 m, particularly over rocky reefs and kelp beds. Wikipedia

Pyjama Shark Free

The team from the Museum's boatbuilding school have recently completed two skiffs as a joint project with Garnock Connections and Rathbone Training. 

Here you can have a closer look at the process behind the making of these skiffs. Their hulls are based on a traditional vessel: a Fair Isle Skiff, the model of which can be found in the  Scottish Fisheries Museum. It was constructed as a demonstration project in 2009 and started a true revival of the coastal rowing in Scotland. 

The original design of the skiff was modernised enabling anyone without a boatbuilding experience to take on a similar project with a bit of guidance from the experienced boatbuilders. Today people from all over the world build similar skiffs and regularly attend championships.

A World War 2 auxiliary water pumping station at the end of the L-shaped pier by the Anchor & Hope pub, Charlton, London.

These pumping stations were used to pump water from the river into the mains water supply to provide extra supply when putting out fires in nearby areas such as the docks. This is one of the last to survive.

Charlton Auxiliary Pumping Station

BullShark (Carcharhinus Leucas), one if not the only shark species that can live in fresh and saltwater. In the top 3 of most dangerous sharks because of its high testosterone (many times that of an elephant in the musth) which makes it aggressive and also its tendency to inhabit warmer coastal waters and even rivers, making contact with humans more likely. Sadly enough overfishing with nets mostly is wiping out this shark species too, and while it will attack a few times worldwide per year at most, we kill 60 million sharks on average each year, take a good look because this shark is becoming rare. And ofcourse the netting will not be done at the coast mostly, still we should preserve:)
