Consuegra Castle is a fortress of Islamic origin located in the town of Consuegra, the ancient Roman city
of Consabura. It passed into Christian hands around the year 1090, but
after the battle of Consuegra it was recovered by Islamic troops.
In the 12th century it was finally conquered by Christian troops. For
its better defense, King Alfonso VIII donated the castle in 1183 to
the Military Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, which made it its main
fortress in the region. During the Peninsular War (1808–1814) it was
occupied by French troops who partially destroyed it in their retreat.

Currently the castle is owned by the Consuegra City Council, being one
of the most visited monuments in Castilla-La Mancha.

Merkava Mark IV is a main battle tank used by the Israel Defense Forces,
put into service in 2004.
This is my first attempt to make a tank model.
The model was conceived as low poly but in the process I decided to add details. As a result, the tank turned out to be mid poly.

**Description**
Devil's Slide was the location of a military triangulation station and observation site used during World War II as part of the harbor defense of San Francisco. Prior to the advent of radar, military personnel used binoculars and compasses to search for ships at sea and relay their coordinates to a central post. By combining information from multiple observation posts, a ship's precise location could be determined by triangulation. There were six military structures at the Devil's Slide: three concrete and steel observation pill-boxes, two concrete and earth bunkers, and a reinforced steel observation tower. The largest U.S. Navy warship laid down during World War II. The huge size of this aircraft carrier allowed her to carry the largest air group, compared to her contemporary counterparts. Excellent torpedo protection, well-armored flight deck and powerful AA defenses made Midway-class ships virtually invulnerable to attacks from enemy aircraft.

The Grumman F-14 Tomcat is an American supersonic, twin-engine, two-seat, variable-sweep wing fighter aircraft. The Tomcat was developed for the United States Navy's Naval Fighter Experimental (VFX) program after the collapse of the F-111B project. The F-14 was the first of the American teen-series fighters, which were designed incorporating air combat experience against MiG fighters during the Vietnam War.

The F-14 first flew in December 1970 and made its first deployment in 1974 with the U.S. Navy aboard USS Enterprise (CVN-65), replacing the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II. The F-14 served as the U.S. Navy's primary maritime air superiority fighter, fleet defense interceptor, and tactical aerial reconnaissance platform into the 1990s. The Low Altitude Navigation and Targeting Infrared for Night (LANTIRN) pod system was added in the 1990s and the Tomcat began performing precision ground-attack missions.

The P6 ATAV is a light strike vehicle manufactured by PT Sentra Surya Ekajaya (SSE Defense). The P6 first appeared in public at the Indo Defense 2016 exhibition. The P6 is classified as a rantis (tactical vehicle) by the TNI.

For dimensions, the P6 ATAV is 4.6 m long, 2.3 m wide and 1.5 m high. For the engine, it uses a 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine with a capacity of 2300 cc. Its power is 142 HP at 3400 RPM. Just like the Flyer, the engine is placed at the back. As an off-road vehicle, the P6 uses independent suspension and a winch at the front. Despite being lightly armored, the P6 uses run flat tires and an automatic transmission. On a full fuel tank (120 litres), the P6 can travel 500 km and reach a speed of 120 km/h.

The JGSDF continued to commission new units up until as recently as 2013

Jaegers are a special type of mobile weapon created by the Jaeger Program. The Jaegers were the most effective first and last line of defense against the Kaiju during the Kaiju War.

Incomplete 34 m² cave in First World War base XXXIV:14 in [Krepost Sveaborg](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krepost_Sveaborg) land front defense line in Westend, Espoo, Finland. The base was built in 1915 - 1918.

Cave in WW1 base Westend, Espoo, Finland

When Time Team announced recently that their first dig in 2022 would be a potential site of a Knights Hospitaller preceptory I knew what my next model must be.

This figure represents a knight from the Hospitaller medieval catholic military order which developed in the early 12th century.  The order started with the aim of providing care for sick, poor or injured pilgrims and developed into a military religious order acting in defense of the Holy Land. The model was made in Zbrush and textures added in Substance Painter.  The download includes an STL file for 3d printing - choose 'additional file' at download.  For the textured model displayed here choose 'orginal format'.

Au Moyen-Age, la forteresse était composée d'une tour de défense à l'ouest, d'une tour d'escalier au sud et d'un logis à l'est complétée au XVIe par une nouvelle tour de défense.
La période 2015/2023 marque le 500ième anniversaire de la première restauration de cette forteresse édifiée au XIVe siècle.
Autour de la forteresse plusieurs constructions ont été conservées et les ruines de l’ancien village ont servi de base à l’édification d’une ferme modèle au XIXe siècle.

Château La Gadelière

[Lanhoso Castle](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castle_of_Lanhoso) was an important line of defense, protecting Portugal against the influnce of the Kingdom of Leon (spanish kingdom). In the 12th century, Theresa Queen of Portugal was besieged in this castle, as she rebelled against her half sister. Portugal had vassalic ties with the crown of Leon. She lost the battle and Portugal remained a vassal state. She allied with noblemen of Galicia (another spanish kingdom) which displeased the Portugese court. Because of that she was later ordered to be imprisoned in the tower of the Lanhoso castle, by her son.  

From the castle, only the tower remains. The cause of this destruction was the great great grand father of the famous portugese general, saint constable, who burned the castle down, as he found out that his wife cheated on him there. The fire killed the lovers, servants and the life stocks. The castle was abonded as it lost its strategical importance.

Description
The adult spider is black. 

Females have a characteristic red hourglass-shaped spot on the underside of the abdomen and several red spots near the spider webs and on the back. The body length of the female is 8–10 mm. 

Males differ from females in their small size (3–4 mm in length) and elongated abdomen (in females it is round). The legs of males are painted in orange and black stripes, and there are red and white marks on the sides of the abdomen. 

Young spiderlings are white or yellowish-white and darken with each subsequent molt. 

Habitat
Black widows prefer warm regions: Central Asia, Southern Europe, North Africa. 

Habitat: steppes and deserts, ravine slopes, rodent burrows, soil cracks, under rocks and in plant roots. 

Danger to humans
The black widow is not aggressive towards humans and bites them only for self-defense in a desperate situation (for example, if the spider is crushed by hand).

Great medieval defense cannon (2)

3D model of the Tabor castle ruin in Neusiedl am See. For a long time, the ruin was considered a Roman-era structure. In fact, the building dates back to the Middle Ages. There is no agreement about its exact function. Some consider it a royal residential castle, others a defense tower. In any case, the Tabor served as a defense in later times. In 1708 it was fortified with palisades and wooden posts, but it could not withstand the onslaught of the Kurucs (anti-Habsburg rebels in the Kingdom of Hungary). Today the ruin serves as a lookout tower with a magnificent view over the town of Neusiedl and the lake.

The metal staircase and the railing were removed in the model.
