The shape of the foot of the monstrance is similar to an oval with concave-convex  profiling. The ornately decorated slope of the foot is divided into four fields with symbols of the Eucharist (grain ears and bunches of grapes), two heads of angels and the coat of arms of the abbey. Two Austrian (re-marking) hallmarks are present on the flange of the foot. The stem is shaped like a candelabrum, made of smooth rings and decorated with foliate motifs. The pear-shaped nodus is decorated with angel heads. It features a sunburst aureole consisting of bundles of conjoined rays of different lengths. Reservaculum has a trefoil shape and is enclosed in a frame with floral and cornice board decorations. The frame is studded with blue-turquoise stones (artificial gemstones made of coloured glass).

Monstrance

This Camunian Rose with a dancing figure below very famous image in Valcamonica rock art.  I have two excellent Valcamonica rock art guide books and both of their covers display photos of this pairing.  There are many other engravings round about them, but these two stand out due to their quality, clarity and execution.

The Camunian Rose is a very good example of the quatrefoil type.  The dancing figure below holds a sword in his right hand and a small shield in his left.  He wears a decorated helmet or headdress.  He's impeccably carved, and is of the Naturalistic style of Iron Age figure - 500-300 BC.

Valcamonica, Foppe di Nadro - Rock 24 (3)

This small rock was engraved during the second half of the first millennium BC.  The Chronology can be determined through the typology of the weapons clasped by the duelists.  The central section of the rock is decorated with several pairs of battling warriors.  They brandish axes with expanded blades, also represented separately near the warriors, and in some cases they hold decorated shields.

At the far right there are two quatrefoil rosa camuni symbols, adopted as the present day emblem of the Lombardy region.

Valcamonica, Paspardo (Dos Sotolaiolo) - Rock 1

A limestone fragment identified by John Bradly as part of a sarcophagus (compare the [nearly intact one at the Black Abbey](https://skfb.ly/pHoWt) with trefoil arches) with two arched niches missing their head and a half quatrefoil on the left. The HEV describes one with ogee headed arches and a quatrefoil on the right, but maybe they mean this one, which is why I'm giving its SMR number below.

St Mary's: sarcophagus fragment

Strade Dominican Friary is a National Monument in state ownership (No. 172). The abbey dates to the mid-13th century, when it first started as a Franciscan Friary, established by the Lord of Athlethan (Ballylahan), Jordan de Exeter. The Dominican friars moved into Strade in 1253. The priory was dedicated to the Holy Cross & was a daughter house of Sligo Dominican priory (SL014-068008-). One of a group of 5 graveslabs on display against the south wall of the chancel of the Dominican friary church. This tapered slab served as the lid of a stone coffin. It bears a floriated cross in low relief, the terminals of the cross appear to form trefoils/bud & leaf or flower & leaf motif, a fleur-de-lis/flower of the lily. Fleury Cross/Lily Cross, terminals representing the flowering head of the lily plant. Diagonal arms represent the Crucifixion. Carving is best viewed in matcap render. The hook fastener is composed of a silver base plate in hexafoil shape, topped with a gold-plated background plate and a rising, five-fold profiled hexafoil frame. The male figurine is semi-plastic and is set within a frame of foliage. The object is has a cylindrical decorative element affixed to a hook. This element exhibits a quatrefoil design and a plastic decoration that is partially broken and illegible. The decoration is situated on the front of a golden base plate, which features diagonal hatched spandrel areas. The front of the object is gold-plated, and three strip-shaped rivets are present on the back of the decorative plate.

The disc-shaped part is characterised by a solid, round form surrounded by a high rim. The front of the disc is decorated with a quatrefoil, with roundels at the tips, while a trefoil is attached to each of the arches. The decorative design is complemented by a rim with a pearl frieze. The rim is serrated at the back and has a compact, triple-profiled rim at the transition to the front. The computer tomography analysis reveals the presence of a figurine on the quatrefoil, depicted as a left-facing, hairy animal with a bushy tail.

The hook fastener features a quatrefoil plate with a profiled, gilded edge. Each of the spandrels has a roundel and a hole. The hook has an oval cross-section and is attached to the underside of the plate. A computer tomography analysis of the quatrefoil field reveals the figure of a rising bird with its head raised, two legs and outstretched wings. The hook is also adorned with a raised, twelve-petalled flower.

Technically, this object is a one-stroke knot path materialized as a closed tubular mesh through the PAPP-OSG pipeline: discrete path construction, topologically verified, tube extrusion, and over/under weaving.

15th-century quatrefoil window in the east wall of the sacristy to the north of the chancel in Portumna Dominican Friary (GA127-019----), Co. Galway. The term quatrefoile refers to an ornamental design of four lobes or leaves as used in architectural tracery, resembling a flower or clover leaf. Quatrefoil originates from the Old French word quatrefoil, meaning "four-leaf," which combines quatre ("four") and foil ("leaf"), derived from the Latin quattuor and folium.  The friary, National Monument No. 461, was built in the 13th-century as a Cistercian chapel dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul. In 1414 the O’Madden family granted the church to the Dominican Order when the church was converted into a friary with the addition of a crossing tower and cloister with claustral buildings to the north of the church. The button is hemispherical in shape, with a flat front. A fragment of an eyelet is also visible on the spherical segment. The motif is a male bust depicted from the front, with detailed facial features. The hairstyle is also depicted in detail, with curled strands at the forehead and long waves at the sides. This hairstyle was frequently depicted on male individuals in the 13th and 14th centuries. The portrait is framed by a quatrefoil with a profiled frame and pearl border. The edge is serrated and the front is gold pleated.

Located in Strade Dominican friary (MA070-067001-), one of a group of five (see also MA070-067007- to MA070-067010-) no upright where they are mounted up against the south wall of the chancel of the friary church. Tapered graveslab (L 1.9m) of 13th/14th-century date with chamfered sides, served as the lid of a stone coffin. Grave-cover decorated with a cross-fleury or floriated cross with stylised leaf-like terminals or bud-and-leaf terminals.  Possible foliage/leaf/fruit/disc motifs springing from the shaft of the cross symbolising the tree of life.  A cross fleury is a cross adorned at the ends with flowers in heraldry. It generally contains the fleur-de-lis, trefoils, etc.  The Tree of Life represents God's gift of eternal life appearing first in Genesis 2:9 as a source of immortality in Eden & in Revelation 22.2 as a part of the new garden of paradise. Strade Abbey Graveslab MA070-067004-

13th-century piscina/sacrarium located at the eastern end of the south wall of the chancel in Strade Dominican Friary (MA070-067001-), Co. Mayo. Piscina comes from the Latin piscine meaning fish-pond, and is used to a describe a stone bowl with a drain-hole, located in the south wall near the altar of a church for the disposing of water used in the Mass. Other words used to describe this feature included lavacrum, lavatorium or sacrarium, the latter often referring to the drainage hole. The piscina is framed within a chamfered trefoil-headed niche known as the Fenesetlla derived from the Latin word meaning small window or opening. The double bowls, each have a central drainage hole within a six-lobed basin. ‘I will wash my hands clean, and take my place among them at thy altar’ (Psalm 26).
