The Red Pacu Piranha (Piaractus Brachypomus), is not a real Piranha, despite belonging to the family  Serrasalmidae, this is a herbivor and actually a colorful one, harmless, often also called red-bellied Piranha or Red Piranha (Pygocentrus nattereri), its genus (Piaractus) tells us more factual information as well as the actual species which is Brachypomus, it can grown up to almost 90cm, and would not be recommended as a private aquarium fish unless you have spare space in Sea World

Beautiful plants for an aquarium like: Java Fern Narrow, Vallisneria, Staurogyne Repens and the Red Tiger Lotus
Actually these were at one time all in my own aquarium, which has had carp, eel, pike, walleye, koicarp, black piranha, slender pike, red bellied piranhas and a snakehead many years ago.

Piaractus Brachypomus, or the Red Pacu Piranha is not a real Piranha, though of the same family Serrasalmidae, its genus (Piaractus) and species (Brachypomus) are very different, though it gets mistaken a lot because of its identical looks, compare with the Red- Bellied Piranha for instance. Vibrant colors it has, its actually more of a herbivor, so kinda like  a red piranha with power saving energy constantly enabled. It will measure up to near 90cm which to me makes no sense in keeping privately, its weight can get 40 pounds, so unless youre in a castle...

In der Schweiz singuläres Objekt mit bärtigem Männergesicht auf der einen und einem weiblichen Gesicht mit Kruselerhaube auf der Gegenseite. Wenige gute Vergleichsobjekte in Süddeutschland, Böhmen, Niedersachsen und Dänemark.
