This building at Skara Brae, Sandwick, Orkney dates from the late Neolithic (c.2900-2400 cal BC) and was the home to stone age farmers . This structure, known as House 1, was discovered after a storm in 1850.  The local laird William Watt excavated this building in the 1850s and1860s discovering a wealth of stone and bone tools.  

Following erosion in the 1920s a defensive sea wall was constructed and Prof. Vere Gordon Childe undertook further excavations.

The walls of this building survive over two metres high and the stone furniture remains in place.   A hearh lies at the centre of the building and a large 'dresser' faces the one metre high door.  The boxes around the sides of the room are bed compartments, which would have been lined with animal skins.  The small stone boxes were used for storage.

This is a modular enviroment scene that was created for my second assessment at AIE where we needed to create six+ objects to build a modular scene and texture it. I tried to achieve a wow/diablo feel to my scene in a PBR workflow.

Here is the desciption I wrote for the scene at the begining of the saaseesment:

An old and forgotten crypt, a shaft of moonlight coming from a hole in the ceiling falls upon a large stone coffin at the back of the room up a small set of stairs. The coffin has a banner lying on top of it as if marking a hero or a king, down the stairs is a larger room with a carpets running across the room. On some of the walls there is a arched inset with a candles and a plaque with some writing on it that cant be read correctly due to age and erosion. There is also banners placed around the room with a emblem on it perhaps representing a family or clan.

Red ochre grave in Ligga, Jokkmokk municipality, Norrbotten, Sweden. Due to the ongoing erosion in the area Norrbottens museum began a rescue survey of the stone setting in 2022.  The 3D-model shows the stone setting after the turf has been removed. 

In Norrbotten the burial tradition including stone settings filled with red ochre coloured sand can be dated to Late Mesolithic times. This tradition seems to have developed locally among people living around the Bothnian Bay.

Securigera varia, commonly known as Crown Vetch or Purple Crown Vetch, is a low-growing legume vine. It is native to Africa, Asia and Europe and is commonly used throughout the US and Canada for erosion control, roadside planting and soil rehabilitation.

This 3D model represents a finely crafted Greek classical sculpture head inspired by ancient Hellenistic and Roman marble artworks. The sculpture features idealized facial proportions, balanced symmetry, and calm, dignified expression characteristic of classical Greek art. Smooth yet subtly weathered surfaces replicate aged marble, with soft chisel marks, natural erosion, and gentle imperfections that enhance authenticity.

The facial anatomy emphasizes a strong nose, defined lips, and serene eyes, while the hair is sculpted in flowing, stylized curls arranged in rhythmic patterns around the head. Attention has been given to realistic stone depth, edge softness, and shadow behavior to ensure convincing results under varied lighting conditions.

Fragmented Reflection

Giza V2.1 is a watertight “digital bas-relief” of the Khufu plateau, built as a procedural heightfield on a polar disc and extruded into a closed manifold (χ=2). 

It includes the Great Pyramid, Queen pyramids, Sphinx with enclosure trench, mortuary temple + causeway, boat pits, temenos wall, and surrounding desert/bedrock. 

The Great Pyramid uses a true square plan (Chebyshev metric) with linear height falloff, Petrie-slope calibration (~51.844°), and subtle 8-face concavity via a cos(4θ) term. 

Masonry is expressed as stepped courses (35 visible bands) plus a casing-to-core transition (smooth lower “Tura” vs rough “Mokattam”). 

Micro-engraved cues mark the north entrance and internal axis (Grand Gallery / King’s Chamber hint). 

Geology is enriched by PAPP/Hopf-derived stone grain, fault harmonics, and erosion weighting stronger at lower elevations. 

Mesh: 72,050 verts / 144,096 faces, per-vertex color + normals.

**Condition Report:**
This statue represents the "Critical Loss" stage of historical preservation. The figure, likely marking the grave of a child, has suffered catastrophic mechanical failure, losing both the head and right arm. The surface is heavily colonized by crustose lichen and moss, which are actively dissolving the stone surface (biological weathering).

**Project Relevance:**
The American Digital Heritage Project digitized this artifact to document the rate of biological erosion. Without digital intervention, the remaining inscription on the scroll base will likely become illegible within the next decade. This model preserves the current state of the object for future conservation study.
