Butrón (Basque: Butroeko gaztelua) is a castle located in Gatika, in the province of Biscay, in northern Spain. It dates originally from the Middle Ages, although it owes its present appearance to an almost complete rebuilding begun by Francisco de Cubas (also known as Marqués de Cubas) in 1878. The castle has a fairy-tale look about it inspired by Bavarian castle models. The present building was created as a hobby for its then owner and to create something which is visually spectacular rather than to produce something in which people could actually live. In fact it would be quite inconvenient as a home as the towers have little useful space and various parts of the castle have exterior connections which are not particularly apt for the wet Basque weather.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butr%C3%B3n

**Description**
Devil's Slide was the location of a military triangulation station and observation site used during World War II as part of the harbor defense of San Francisco. Prior to the advent of radar, military personnel used binoculars and compasses to search for ships at sea and relay their coordinates to a central post. By combining information from multiple observation posts, a ship's precise location could be determined by triangulation. There were six military structures at the Devil's Slide: three concrete and steel observation pill-boxes, two concrete and earth bunkers, and a reinforced steel observation tower. The Louvre or the Louvre Museum is a national art museum in Paris, France. It is located on the Right Bank of the Seine in the city's 1st arrondissement (district or ward) and home to some of the most canonical works of Western art, including the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo. The museum is housed in the Louvre Palace, originally built in the late 12th to 13th century under Philip II. Remnants of the Medieval Louvre fortress are visible in the basement of the museum. Due to urban expansion, the fortress eventually lost its defensive function, and in 1546 Francis I converted it into the primary residence of the French Kings.

This week, I’ll be concentrating on the many different districts of San Fransisco, CA.


This incredible house was captured in the Mission district of San Francisco, at the intersection of York St. and 25th. This entire neighborhood is filled with Murals left and right. Some on people's garage doors, some on the entire side of the building, and in this case, the entire house. 

This mural was done by a group called Precita Eyes Muralists, directed by Max Marttila and Fred Alvarado in collaboration with the Urban Youth Arts Program. 


Make sure you sound is turned out, the audio of the space really puts things into context.

SF Street Art 26 - 24th & York Mini Park

This is one of the most stunning places in the Paris catacombs. Built in the early XIX century, this fountain is located under the Luxembourg garden (at the place where once stood the great *Chartreuse* of Paris - a large monastery of the Carthusian religious order).

Louis Héricart-de-Thury (then the General Inspector of the Paris' underground quarries) built the fountain to drain underground water and better monitor the water tables. The water has a blue-green color thanks to some minerals. It's one of the best places to have a break during a night of underground exploration.

Paris catacombs: Fontaine Des Chartreux (1)

The Convent of Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles de la Hoz is located in the Duraton Canyon in Segovia, Spain. The site consists of the ruins of a 13th Century Convent that is believed to have been established by the Franciscan Order. The site was abandoned in the middle 19th Century and had notible visitors including Queen Isabella and King Philip II. Accessing the site is possible only by boat but for a few months during the year when it is possible to visit the site on foot when river water levels are lower. 

The 3D model was made using 4,356 images captured with a DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2 drone; images were processed in CapturingReality; additional processing was completed in Geomagic and Instantmeshes.

Convent Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles de la Hoz

Based on reference drawings of Francis Drake's flagship, the Golden Hind, with some personal touch around the gallery, forecastle and figurehead. Completely UV unwrapped, but no textures included, not rigged and animated. Enjoy!

Yes, this was a hell of a scan... it look me 10-15 minutes to walk the entire street. Shootout to @polycam app (@cpheinrich), that handled the capture from the beginning to the end of this 560 ft long scan (170 m.)!

Clarion Alley is a small street in SF between Mission and Valencia Streets, notable for its world [renowned murals](https://clarionalleymuralproject.org/). To me it's the Street Arts Mecca, and it tell so much about the history of SF past decades, its mystical bohemian tradition, the challenges faced by its communities, and much more.

Day 35: Scanning Clarion Alley Street Art

This is all that remains today of the old Baltimore Traction Company cable car powerhouse on Druid Hill Ave. It was built to help transport passengers from "...Druid Hill Park to Patterson Park in 1891 using underground steel cables (similar to the system still operating in San Francisco today). The cables were powered by steam engines in nearby warehouses."

United States Penitentiary, Alcatraz Island, also known simply as Alcatraz or The Rock, was a maximum security federal prison on Alcatraz Island, 1.25 miles (2.01 km) off the coast of San Francisco, California, United States. The site of a fort since the 1850s, the main prison building was built in 1910–12 as a U.S. Army military prison.

The United States Department of Justice acquired the United States Disciplinary Barracks, Pacific Branch, on Alcatraz on October 12, 1933. The island became adapted and used as a prison of the Federal Bureau of Prisons in August 1934 after the buildings were modernized and security increased. Given this high security and the island's location in the cold waters and strong currents of San Francisco Bay, prison operators believed Alcatraz to be escape-proof and America's most secure prison.

ALCATRAZ

The Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família, otherwise known as Sagrada Família, is a church under construction in the Eixample district of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It is the largest unfinished Catholic church in the world. Designed by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí (1852–1926), his work on Sagrada Família is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site On 7 November 2010, Pope Benedict XVI consecrated the church and proclaimed it a minor basilica.

On 19 March 1882, construction of the Sagrada Família began under architect Francisco de Paula del Villar. In 1883, when Villar resigned, Gaudí took over as chief architect, transforming the project with his architectural and engineering style, combining Gothic and curvilinear Art Nouveau forms. Gaudí devoted the remainder of his life to the project, and he is buried in the church's crypt. At the time of his death in 1926, less than a quarter of the project was complete.

La Sagrada Familia

Full name: **Armillary sphere by Franciszek Słupski (1771)**

An armillary sphere is an astronomical instrument, a model of the celestial sphere. It was used to demonstrate celestial phenomena and determine the time and equatorial and ecliptic coordinates. The armillary sphere enabled simulation of astronomical phenomena, including the movement of planets in relation to the Sun. It was made by Franciszek Słupski as part of his doctoral thesis defended at the Philosophy Department of the University of Kraków.

Golden Gate Bridge

One of the catacombs entries. Convenient entries like this one are pretty rare, and usually locked (being only used by the police and the Geological Inspection Dept (*Inspection Générale des Carrières*).

Most of the catacombs galleries in the *Grand Reseau Nord* are about 60 ft beneath the surface, though there are galleries that run even deeper (down to 90 ft deep).
