The Volkswagen Golf GTI was unveiled in 1975 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The UK market had to wait a further two years for vehicles to arrive - 1977 saw 34 examples, all of them left hand drive, sold in the GTI's first tentative year.

The GTI was powered by a 1,588 cc four cylinder engine with K-Jetronic fuel injection it developed 110 PS at 6,100 rpm and 103 lbs ft of torque at 5,000 rpm. This allowed the GTI, which weighed 810 kg unladen, to hit 60 mph from standstill in nine-seconds before reaching a top speed of 110 mph.

BMW M4 GT3 completed its first kilometres at the roll-out at the BMW Group plant in Dingolfing. The moment when BMW works driver Augusto Farfus left the garage for the first time was a very emotional one for everyone involved at BMW M Motorsport. At the same time, it also represented a milestone and, at that time, highlight of a development process that began in early 2019 with CFD computer simulations.

The 1983 GTI 1.8 used carry-over engine, but lacked a little fizz of the original because of the additional weight of the body. That was restored by the arrival of the 16V in 1986, which pushed power to 136bhp and dropped the 0-60mph time to under 8 seconds

3D scan of a VW Golf Mk5 (5-door, 2003-2009)

Intended to be used as a modelling reference, scanned from video and scaled/aligned to real life size.

Not perfect as it's scanned from visual data but should be proportionally correct enough to make a good base for modelling.

Originally scanned to be a modelling reference for me and Spiicy's BeamNG traffic mod projects, realistically I'm never going to get round to modelling most of the cars I have though. If you do end up modelling one from this scan then model contributions for the mod are greatly appreciated :)
