Decorative Book Set 01

A collection of reprocessed scanned animal skulls ([other free assets here](https://skfb.ly/6yQSW)), initally designed to be used as as game props, particles or for optimized renderings. 

**BUT**:  the method I used for remeshing and texture baking was not adapted in this case, and many normal inversions for instance have happened. Moreover, as these assets were batch-processed, I neglected some parts of the material, hence some black zones on the scans... 

You can of course still use them for your projects, but know that the quality on those baked models is not that good! Plus 1024px is too few for those complex objects...

Each model is made of 2500 triangles, and 1024 pixels albedo and normal maps.

The original scans were first remeshed with [mmgs](http://mmgtools.org), and decimated, UV unwrapped and baked in blender. Normal maps are ready to use for Unreal Engine, don't forget to flip their green channel in Unity!

All the original scans come from the great collection of UVic Libraries - @uviclib .

* Orbits are correctly scaled.
* Maximum airplanes altitude is overly exaggerated (by a factor of ~300).
* I'd advice you to visit the [Europen Space Agency (ESA) website](https://www.esa.int/Enabling_Support/Space_Transportation/Types_of_orbits) to understand the different types of orbits, and learn why the ISS orbits around Earth in ~1h40 or why your satellite dish needs to be precisely calibrated.

Starry Night Diorama Tilt Brush

I tried making 3D model based on some artwork again.

This character is from a card deck-building turn-based Rpg game called "Library of Ruina" that I was playing

This model is very different than what I usually do, Because it's a male character, has proper body proportion, and It also has kind of a water/paint texture style unlike cel shading I usually do, So it's quite difficult to try making the 3D model accurate.


The result? Well, not as good as I had hoped, 
For some reason, I just can't make his face looks correct no matter how hard I am tired. I'm unfamiliar with this body type so I'm probably unable to plan properly.

I used python and blender to precisely position (units are [parsecs](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parsec)!) 10000 stars from the [HYG Database](https://github.com/astronexus/HYG-Database). 

The star-planes are randomly rotated though, and keep in mind that the center icosphere representing the earth is exaggeratingly big - by a small factor of about 1.5 billion!!

The (short and ugly) bit of python script I used to make this visualization is available on [PasteBin](https://pastebin.com/0vhdGz59) if anyone is interested!

I am quite happy with the look of this model, stars use a transparent/emissive material mapped to the vertex colors created in blender (from each star "color index" if available in the database), and enhanced with some bloom to create halos... 

Next ideas: plot 100.000 neighbor stars, and maybe the Milky Way from ESA's [Gaia Archive](http://gea.esac.esa.int/archive/). That'd be really awesome!

- Also require a lot of cylinder pin 1.7mm diameter. 15-20mm Length. 
Hard wire maybe work. I use small wood nail (head clipped)

A few simple sketchfab editor changes for a challenge for fun, the focus was a fantasy feel around dusk, the main changes are;

* Static color background with opacity changes for the sea and sky. This is a simple trick makes a cohesive color composition
* Normal maps added for everything most strikingly the water to break up the flat colors and depth
* Use of refraction opacity, for the sea top has roughness added for depth. The sky has refraction calibrated make use of the assets in the scene to give an almost perlin finish of numerous colors depending on angle
* Clear coats and anisotropy to bounce around colors and add depth
* Orange lighting in the courtyard for a lived in feeling
* Emissions for extra color calibration
* SSAO, Sharpness, Vignette, Tonne mapping and color balance

Library of Celsus - Crowdsourced model made from 200 photos from several sources public avaible.

The Library of Celsus is an ancient Roman building in Ephesus, Anatolia, now part of Selçuk, Turkey. It was built in honour of the Roman Senator Tiberius Julius Celsus Polemaeanus completed between circa 114–117 A.Dby Celsus' son, Gaius Julius Aquila (consul, 110 AD). The library was "one of the most impressive buildings in the Roman Empire" and built to store 12,000 scrolls and to serve as a mausoleum for Celsus, who is buried in a crypt beneath the library in a decorated marble sarcophagus The Library of Celsus was the "third-largest library in the ancient world" behind both Alexandria and Pergamum.

Medium-High Poly Style Editing of the model found Below. The model was Exploded in Surfaces and rejoined to assign materials. Styling was done for rendering, nothing to do with the actual engine. Rhino files (Nurbs) available upon request. Note: This Model uses SSAO and SSR (Reflections and Occlusion) and may not display properly in some devices (mobiles usually).

The WW2 german panzergrenadiers were motorised units that often fought from armoured half tracks in various roles.

I put 100% into this character to practice and test my character creation and retopolgy skills, had to compress the textures to upload, but still looks good. All done in Blender 3.3 and GIMP and is based off the UE4 mannequin but with a smaller chest. The textures are 2k PBR and its 27k Triangles so should work well in game engines.

Also now rigged with mixamo rig, had to do it manually as it didn't work with the auto rigger and hopefully won't be to much work to use with the mixamo animations library.

I've started on an allied soldier aswell in the same style, so will post that when he's finished.

WW2 Panzergrenadier 2k (CC0)

Sculpted by Pierre Franqueville (Pietro Francavilla, Petrus a Francvilla), the statuette is one of the three models recorded in the collection of the Jagiellonian Library as early as 1783. Pietro Francavilla (1547–1615) was a Franco-Flemish sculptor who worked in Italy.

Écorché models were widely used by artists to practice drawing and to improve their knowledge of the human body.

The sculptured Dendera zodiac (or Denderah zodiac) is a widely known Egyptian bas-relief from the ceiling of the pronaos (or portico) of a chapel dedicated to Osiris in the Hathor temple at Dendera, containing images of Taurus (the bull) and Libra (the scales). This chapel was begun in the late Ptolemaic period; its pronaos was added by the emperor Tiberius. This led Jean-François Champollion to date the relief to the Greco-Roman period, but most of his contemporaries believed it to be of the New Kingdom.

The relief, which John H. Rogers characterised as "the only complete map that we have of an ancient sky", has been conjectured in the past to represent the basis on which later astronomy systems were based.
