En alternativ tolkning kan være at navnet, som direkte oversatt kan bety "Stridsbror", var kallenavnet på selve spillebrikka.

A presumed gaming piece of soap stone with a runic inscription, found in medieval context (12th century) under the road in Trondheim, Norway. Runologist Karen Langsholt Holmqvist has interpreted the inscription as a hitherto unknown name, Sigsífr. A direct translation of the name could be "Warriorbrother", which could alternatively be seen as a name of the gaming piece itself.

The kraken (/ˈkrɑːkən/) is a legendary cephalopod-like sea monster of giant size that is said to dwell off the coasts of Norway and Greenland. Authors over the years have postulated that the legend originated from sightings of giant squids that may grow to 13–15 meters (40–50 feet) in length. The sheer size and fearsome appearance attributed to the kraken have made it a common ocean-dwelling monster in various fictional works.

m1772 Flintlock

The sculpture depicts St Olaf, the patron saint of Norway. It originally stood in [Bunge church](https://bit.ly/3kRRJxG) on the Swedish island of Gotland. It is dated to the early 14th century. A number of sculptures from the same period are assumed to be from the same artisan, called the Bunge Master.

The sculpture is carved in oak. Religious sculptures in Gothic style have extravagant dresses with many folds. In the deep folds of the St Olaf sculpture traces of red, green and blue paint as well as gilding are visible.
[St Olaf (Olaf Haraldsson)](https://bit.ly/3yGw6VO) was a Norwegian King living between 995 and 1030. He introduced Christianity in Norway, in the same way his father-in-law [Olof Skötkonung](https://bit.ly/3talcGT) did in Sweden.

Finger ring in gilded silver.

Bronze buckle with guilding. At the far end of the plate there is a circular frame for a stone, around which are symmetrically placed 2 birds with ribbon-shaped cross-shaped bodies, large round eyes and strong curved beaks that bite over their own bodies. Around the frame for the stone and on the pins at the other end of the fitting there is also a ribbon braid in caraway. With the exception of the frame for the stone, the entire upper side of the fitting is gilded. On the underside of the fitting there are impressions of textiles. Dated to 800-850 AD. Viking period.

Bronze buckle with guilding.

The partial shaft of an early 12th-century high cross (CL045-033010-) with rune & scholastic ogham inscription that was discovered in 1916, built into the graveyard wall of St. Flannan's Cathedral (CL045-033006-), Killaloe, Co. Clare, now erected inside the west end of the cathedral.  Runic inscription on the broad western face of the cross-shaft reads (TH) URGRIM RISTI (KR)US THINA which has been translated as 'Thorgrim raised this cross'.  A scholastic ogham inscription is visible on the narrow southern face which reads BENDACHT ... TOROQR ... that has been interpreted as BENDACHT FOR TOROQRIM or 'A Blessing on T(horgrim)'.   A naive Crucifixion figure is visible on the eastern face of the cross-shaft.  Dr Griffin Murray of University College Cork has identfied him as Thorgrim Furcap, a Norwegian baron, who overwintered in Killaloe in 1102 with the King of Norway, Magnús Barelegs, in his alliance with Muirchertach Ua Briain. Magnificent gilded ring buckle of bronze from the Viking Age of Irish workmanship, with thin tinned silver plating on one side. The three-sided fields on the buckle's wide ends are smooth, but the large roundings on the buckle are originally the eyes of the animal and are larger and with ornaments along the edge. There are traces of amber inlay in one of the roundings. - The other side has a thin tinned silver plating, richly decorated with engraved ornaments. In the lower corners of the large three-sided fields are circular fields filled with scrolls. On each of the large three-sided fields is a richly decorated animal figure. Directly opposite the wide ends is also a field decorated with ribbon braids. Dated to 800-1050 AD.
