The Solar System is the gravitationally bound system of the Sun and the objects that orbit it. The largest of such objects are the eight planets, in order from the Sun: four terrestrial planets, named Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars; and four giant planets, including two gas giants, Jupiter and Saturn, and two ice giants, named Uranus and Neptune. The terrestrial planets have a definite surface and are mostly made of rock and metal. The gas giants are mostly made of hydrogen and helium, while the ice giants are mostly made of volatile substances such as water, ammonia, and methane. In some texts, these terrestrial and giant planets are called the inner Solar System and outer Solar System planets respectively.

Here's a visualization of 688 exoplanets from [NASA's exoplanet catalog](https://go.nasa.gov/2y0sll0) (which contains 4152 exoplanets as of April 28th, 2020), done with Python and Blender.

**Disclaimer:** I filtered the exoplanets according to parameters of interest ("only" kept 688), and spent some time recomputing parameters (such as surface gravity or temperature) while re-learning some "basic" black-body radiation and orbital mechanics equations, before mapping the resulting parameters to positions and textures in Blender. The values in this visualization are therefore approximations (and should not be used for interstellar navigation &#128517;).

Exoplanets

Here is my concept level design for a Ship Race. The idea behind the level is a city suspended above water in the middle of the mountains.

The model itself was drafted up and textured within a couple days, originally I had hoped to have this animated however with time running out I'm not sure I would be able to smoothly and presentably do this by the end of the competition.

The buildings design and mounting for the city was inspired by the Planets Coruscant and Kamino from the Star Wars series. 

This piece was designed for the Low Poly Game Level Challenge, however I saw this as an opportunity as well to develope a small piece for my portfolio, as I am hoping to get into the Game Industry as a 3D artist.

The Model and Texture sets I do not imagine I will use outside of this competition but anyone is free to use anything found in here if they desire.

This is my version of hard surface modeling, NO UV mapping for the details. every hull plate, greeble, vent, scratch and dent are meticulously meshed to the surface. and i mean *into* the surface! this whole complicated thing is ONE SHELL. A hermetically sealed one piece 3d printable STL model. Normally this leads to stupidly high poly counts, how ever i managed to keep the thing down to a 12 meg, 251,968 polygon STL file.

This is a pretty darned accurate rendition of the CGI ship as seen in the movie, small liberties were taken in the name of the low poly Gods. the movie model obviously using huge UVs and surface detailing maps.

I made this thing as a public domain project, so unless the movie owners eventual try and copyright the design, not easy as the design is quite closely based on the 50 year old French comic series. she should be free for use.

XB982 ASTROSHIP DISPLAY MODEL

In this 3D solar system size comparison model, the radius of each planet is measured relative to Earth's radius (6,378 km). This means that the Earth's sphere in the model has a radius of 1 cm, where 1 cm represents 6,378 km. For example, the sphere representing Jupiter has a radius of 10.961 cm, and its actual radius can be calculated using the formula:

Sphere Radius* 6,378 = Actual Radius of the Planet

The data used in this model was sourced from Google. While the model provides a useful size comparison, it is not 100% accurate because planets have different radii at the poles and the equator. However, it still serves as a good reference for understanding relative sizes.

The Sun’s radius can also be calculated using the same formula. However, the Sun does not have a single, fixed radius, as different wavelengths of light reveal slightly different measurements. In this 3D model, the Sun’s radius was determined based on visible light observations.

A Stargate is an Einstein–Rosen bridge portal device within the Stargate fictional universe that allows practical, rapid travel between two distant locations. The devices first appear in the 1994 Roland Emmerich film Stargate, and thereafter in the television series Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, and Stargate Universe. An armillary sphere is an astronomical instrument, a model of the celestial sphere. It was used to demonstrate celestial phenomena and determine the time and equatorial and ecliptic coordinates. The armillary sphere enabled simulation of astronomical phenomena, including the movement of planets in relation to the Sun. It was made by Franciszek Słupski as part of his doctoral thesis defended at the Philosophy Department of the University of Kraków.

The Space Cargo Transporter is a model designed to regulate the pressure piston structure with an internal lift mechanism, for transporting goods in space. The transporter can rely on atmospheric deceleration to safely land on other planets, providing a reliable solution for future space exploration and colonization.
This is just a model that I put a lot of effort into, but in reality, it is not useful.

I made the model in Zbrush and created a set of alphas in Procreate on the ipad closely following the markings on the original instrument.  I used these in Substance Painter to create the etched details.  This model is not really for 3d printing - the markings will not appear on the print.
