Here's a visualization of global winds and precipitations on September 1st, 2019 (when [Hurricane Dorian](https://tinyurl.com/y3jewqqt) was hovering over the Bahamas, off the coast of Florida).

* Created in Python (using Matplotlib, NetCDF4, Scipy and Numpy modules)
* Public wind and precipitation data from the [NCEP/NCAR Reanalysis](https://tinyurl.com/y6mfqr6f)
* Wind particles colored according to speed (using Matplotlib "inferno" colormap)
* Rain particles scattered according to the precipitation rate

The seamless-loop effect was achieved by periodically spawning the particles at their initial location on a time range greater than the animation, and subsampling this time range before export. This effect was further enhanced by fading each particle's color to black at their birth and death, and using the "Additive" opacity in Sketchfab material settings to hide black points.

A Windy Day

Trying out some remeshing scipts in blender/python on body scans! These ones come from the collection [Codame Labs] from @codame - all licensed under CC-attribution. As usual, feel free to re-use for nearly anything, and go check [my growing collection of free assets](https://skfb.ly/6yQSW) ;)

Each model is made of 1500 triangles, and has its origin located on the ground plane. Obviously, scans with multiple people have a lower precision.

I removed the textures to keep the faces as flat shaded, as this is the step I'm currently thinking about: geometry.
In particular, how to keep the characters nose - otherwise the face feels too flat - while remeshing in my (automated) workflow.

This could be done by specifying, with just one manual intervention (but not automated anymore!), the face as a zone of higher resolution and giving this input as a metric to [mmgs](http://mmgtools.org). Will think about it...

WIP - Lowpoly People - 1

A by-product of working with the [OpenData repository of the city of Paris](https://opendata.paris.fr/explore/?sort=modified): here **public lights** (bottom layer, orange-ish) and **trees** (top layer, multicolor).

Both datasets have an information on the objects height, which were superimposed to a Digital Elevation Model of Paris, interpolated in python from [**SRTM** data](https://www2.jpl.nasa.gov/srtm/) (Z-scale overly exagerated). The lights were colored according to their light temperature (available in the dataset), while the 25 most common kinds of trees were colored by species.

The resulting point cloud gives pretty interesting patterns (some of which I've annotated), especially in cemeteries and on the biggest streets. Too bad most of the public parks don't have associated tree data...

Trees of Paris

Global map of seismic events for the years 2010 and 2011 ([animation here](https://skfb.ly/6Mn8Y)). 

Here are some interesting events/features, clearly visible on this visualization:

* [Seismic activity in the Scotia Arc](http://earthjay.com/earthquakes/20160819_sandwich/civile_etal_2012_tectonics_scotia.pdf), where continents want to emerge (East of southern Chile)
* The fine [USGS](https://www.usgs.gov/) monitoring on the US west-coast, in Hawaii and in the Aleutian Trench (North Pacific), where even the smallest events (purple) are recorded.

Seismic data comes from the [Earthquake Catalog](https://earthquake.usgs.gov/fdsnws/event/1/), and was processed in Python.

After The God Particle...

Going on with some tests for the animation of an underwater scene, this time playing with particle system and forces in blender (with which I am not very familiar). 

The particle system I used to create this shoal of fish is set with a simple fish model (same as [Abstract aquarium](https://skfb.ly/6ypzL)) as render object. 

The fish particle system was set to a "**Boids**" physics, and tweaking parameters gave the unique fish a smooth movement. A **vortex force field** was then added to the scene to create the swirling motion on the particles. I also added a collision domain (as a cube) to make sure that no fish went outside of a specified volume, but it proved unnecessary...

I still have to figure out how to properly export keyframed animations to a fbx file, as the only file I managed to obtain was a 120MB one (for a < 100 tris fish model). A python script which has helped me is [here](https://blender.stackexchange.com/a/7142), but it does not pass the export phase very well...

2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 2.7 Carrera Tribute 992

I used python and blender to precisely position (units are [parsecs](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parsec)!) 10000 stars from the [HYG Database](https://github.com/astronexus/HYG-Database). 

The star-planes are randomly rotated though, and keep in mind that the center icosphere representing the earth is exaggeratingly big - by a small factor of about 1.5 billion!!

The (short and ugly) bit of python script I used to make this visualization is available on [PasteBin](https://pastebin.com/0vhdGz59) if anyone is interested!

I am quite happy with the look of this model, stars use a transparent/emissive material mapped to the vertex colors created in blender (from each star "color index" if available in the database), and enhanced with some bloom to create halos... 

Next ideas: plot 100.000 neighbor stars, and maybe the Milky Way from ESA's [Gaia Archive](http://gea.esac.esa.int/archive/). That'd be really awesome!

Our corner of universe

The Tōhoku earthquake (9.1 magnitude) hit Japan on March 11, 2011 for a duration of 5 minutes, and was followed by a tsunami which claimed the life of close to 16.000 people.  

The seismic events shown took place on that same day, between 01h41 and 23h59 (GMT). At 0.5X animation speed, 1 second of animation = 1 hour in real time.

The main earthquake happened at 05h46 (1:80 mark in the animation), and slowing down the animation speed to 0.1X or keeping manual control around this event should allow you to better understand the aftershocks propagation.

Tōhoku earthquake - 2011

The neon LED sign is acting as an animated texture.  The texture isn't actually animated, but rather it is cycling through several textures and putting the live one in front of the others at the right time.  The frame is just a low-poly blackish material so to be game-ready.

The kanji is: 居酒屋 = Eating/drinking pub “izakaya” (Japanese language)

If you are using this for a game, probably just pick one of the textures if you don't want to animate it.

Music is synthwave generated in FL Studio 12.

The entire model and animation was generated via Python scripting in Blender 2.82.

Here's a visualization of 688 exoplanets from [NASA's exoplanet catalog](https://go.nasa.gov/2y0sll0) (which contains 4152 exoplanets as of April 28th, 2020), done with Python and Blender.

**Disclaimer:** I filtered the exoplanets according to parameters of interest ("only" kept 688), and spent some time recomputing parameters (such as surface gravity or temperature) while re-learning some "basic" black-body radiation and orbital mechanics equations, before mapping the resulting parameters to positions and textures in Blender. The values in this visualization are therefore approximations (and should not be used for interstellar navigation &#128517;).

I would advise you to visit the [NASA website dedicated to exoplanets](https://exoplanets.nasa.gov/) to learn more about methods linked to exoplanets detection.

This visualization is based on the song **"I heard it through the grapevine"** interpreted by **Creedence Clearwater Revival** (originally from Marvin Gaye).

In a few (technical) words, I analyzed the sample through some Discrete Fourier Transforms, and linked the resulting spectrogram to shapekeys matching frequencies in Blender through Python. I'll probably play around some more with similar concepts in the coming weeks, and will try to share some scripts !

A LiDAR landscape of the key archaeological features around Stonehenge including Stonehenge itself, The Avenue, the Cursus and numerous barrow burial mounds. The 1 metre LiDAR is only partial at Stonehenge with many of the sites to the west not included in the current opendata coverage. This is a digital terrain model version which represents the bare ground surface only so prominent buildings, trees and even the stones of the Stonehenge circles are stripped off in this case. 

Created using 1 metre DTM LiDAR opendata provided by the Environment Agency. Built in QGIS using the QGIS2threeJS plugin.

Thanks to Mike Gill of the Avon Valley Archaeological Society for the python code which converts QGIS models into a format compatible with Sketchfab.

This represents a fusion of art and code. The butterfly is modeled using reference tracing and animated entirely using a Python Script in Blender (Shape Keys + Math Functions).

Beyond manual sculpting: this is pure computational topology. 
This model is the direct, deterministic 3D output of the Polytopic Archetypal Projection Protocol (PAPP).
The Origin: The mathematical seed is the "Flower of Life", the fundamental matrix of sacred geometry based on overlapping circles with hexagonal symmetry. Its 2D ratios were extracted and fed into our "algebraic transducer".
The Pipeline: The algorithm processed these constants via Continued Fractions and Pythagorean reductions, mapping the data onto a Fibonacci lattice in a 4D hypersphere ($S^3$). 
Finally, the space was projected into 3D via a Hopf fibration ($S^3 \rightarrow S^2$).
The Result (V309): The mathematical coherence of the Flower of Life does not produce chaotic noise. 
It forces the system to naturally collapse into a dense, highly interconnected, and topologically closed ($\chi=2$) spatial lattice. 
An architecture of pure algebraic mechanics.

Magnum revolver 356 Python

Beyond standard 3D modeling: this is a fully immersive mathematical environment.
This model is the deterministic 3D projection of the dual compound of two regular 4D polytopes—the 600-cell and the 120-cell.
The Math: Coordinates were generated natively in 4D ($S^3$) and projected down to our 3D space ($S^2$) via a rigorous Hopf fibration mapping using the PAPP framework.
The Experience: This is NOT a simple wireframe. 
The algorithm explicitly generated the dense network of overlapping faces. It was specifically engineered to trigger a "DMT kaleidoscope" visual effect.
How to view it: Do not just look at the exterior. Zoom all the way INSIDE the object and pan your camera. 
The extreme 4D symmetry and intersecting shells create an infinite, shifting fractal-like environment. 
Pure algebraic mechanics translated into a hyper-dimensional optical experience.
Procedurally generated via PAPP Framework (Python/SciPy).
