This model was captured autonomously by Skydio 3D Scan. 3D Scan is a first-of-its-kind adaptive scanning software built on top of Skydio Autonomy. It allows the drone to automate data capture for generating 3D models with comprehensive coverage and ultra-high resolution, so that crews can perform higher quality scans in less time and with minimal pilot training.

Mock Helicopter Crash Scene

A **map of Dark Souls** recreated in 1/bigger than 1 scale. Made by scanning, heavily editing and combining the game's invisible collision datas in Blender to make something viewable when close. It took longer than I expected, and it's far from, you know, good, but I hope it's educational or entertaining.

Destroyed Car 07 (Raw Scan)

This is a 3d scanned model made with photogrammetry technique in our own custom built 3D scanner equipped with Canon 200D cameras. This model was processed through Reality Capture and retopologized via ZRemesher within Zbrush. It has animation ready topology wrapped on top of the scan in Wrap3. 

This is a true human size detailed model of a female hand.

This 3D skull model was created by laser scanning the Museum's iconic *Diplodocus carnegii* cast.

Rotate, zoom in and explore the features of this popular dinosaur.

Dippy was the first *Diplodocus* (DIP-low-DOCK-us) to go on display anywhere in the world when it was gifted to the Museum in 1905. It quickly became a star, capturing hearts and imaginations.
Dippy then left the Museum in 2017 to complete a whirlwind tour of the UK. The skeleton will be on display at the Museum from 27 May until 2 January 2023.

To mark this event, we have prepared a set of 3D printable files which can be downloaded and printed on a conventional desktop 3D printer and assembled to create a three-quarter scale model of the skull, or a model which can be compiled from laser cut sections of cardboard.

Dippy skull

A collection of reprocessed scanned animal skulls ([other free assets here](https://skfb.ly/6yQSW)), initally designed to be used as as game props, particles or for optimized renderings. 

**BUT**:  the method I used for remeshing and texture baking was not adapted in this case, and many normal inversions for instance have happened. Moreover, as these assets were batch-processed, I neglected some parts of the material, hence some black zones on the scans... 

You can of course still use them for your projects, but know that the quality on those baked models is not that good! Plus 1024px is too few for those complex objects...

Each model is made of 2500 triangles, and 1024 pixels albedo and normal maps.

The original scans were first remeshed with [mmgs](http://mmgtools.org), and decimated, UV unwrapped and baked in blender. Normal maps are ready to use for Unreal Engine, don't forget to flip their green channel in Unity!

César - Louvre Museum

This is the Hardy Tree in [St Pancras Old Church](https://goo.gl/9AiihJ), Camden, London, UK ([OSM](https://goo.gl/ydVXeA)). The tree was reportedly planted by the author Thomas Hardy and the roots are embedded in pile of gravestones.

The point cloud is a combination of a RIEGL VZ-400 scan and a ZEB-REVO (to get detail around the gravestones). Scanning done by University College London ([@kungphil](https://twitter.com/kungphil), [@mathiasdisney](https://twitter.com/mathiasdisney), [@UCLgeography](https://twitter.com/UCLgeography)).

This work was funded by the NERC National Centre for Earth Observation (NCEO).

Hardy Tree (Camden, UK) and gravestones

This is a 3D model of Bakari, a **Southern Right Rhino** (Ceratotherium simum) from **Perth Zoo**, Western Australia, which was initially scanned using an array of 20 Canon G16 cameras.  CG artist **Jer Bot** used the open source 3D animation software **Blender** (blender.org) to fully reconstruct the rhino. The mass of the Rhino is 2225 kg and its length is 2.1 meters. Reference photos were also used as a guide to create taxonomic features onto the 3D model using Blender's sculpting tools.

Model 56A - Southern White Rhino

Lion Crushing a Serpent (1832)
by Antoine-Louis Barye (1796 - 1875)

Although his contemporaries criticized his style and his choice of animal subjects, Barye is today esteemed as the founder of the Parisian animaliers.
The noble lion, representing the new King and the people of France, is shown in a triumphant struggle against the serpent, symbolizing Charles X (reigned 1824–1830) and the ousted Bourbon dynasty. The pair additionally suggests a celestial sanction for Louis-Philippe’s reign by alluding to the constellations of Leo (the lion) and Hydra (the sea serpent), which “ruled the heavens” during the days of the July Revolution (July 27-30, 1830).

The scanned sculpture is a copy made by Guy Hain, who is a French art forger who produced number of fake bronze sculptures.
The Lion is located by the entrance of Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek in Copenhagen.

The paper explores the concept of letting surgical stuff train in a virtual operating setting.
This is one of several general ORs in the Charité Campus Mitte (CCM), scanned in 2018. Shot with Nikon D3400 (500 images), reconstructed in Metashape, refined in Blender.

Charité University Hospital - Operating Room

In Virgil, Laocoön was a priest of Poseidon who was killed with both his sons after attempting to expose the ruse of the Trojan Horse by striking it with a spear. In Sophocles, on the other hand, he was a priest of Apollo, who should have been celibate but had married.

This particular sculpture was made by the unknown artist and is a copy of the original work. 

3D scanned using photogrammetry in Hans Tausens Park in Copenhagen. Capturing of the scupture was done by 4 people/4 cameras by jointly dancing around the sculpture.

 Reconstructed in Reality Capture from about 1000 images.

The texture was retrieved from my previous [photogrammetry model](https://skfb.ly/GWMR), while the 3D object was downloaded from [AD&amp;D 4D](https://skfb.ly/6QUFB)' Sketchfab model. 

The combination of these two models was completed with **MeshLab**, using the very efficient "Point Based Gluing" alignment method.

Finalization with realistic lightings performed in Sketchfab.

Nefertiti's bust (like in the museum)

Robert Stephenson's 0-2-2 locomotive [Rocket](https://collection.sciencemuseum.org.uk/objects/co8084947/stephensons-rocket-steam-locomotive) from the [Science Museum Group Collection](http://collection.sciencemuseum.org.uk/).  

Manufactured in 1829 by Robert Stephenson and Company in Newcastle, close to today’s Newcastle Central railway station, Rocket won the famous [Rainhill Trials](https://www.railwaymuseum.org.uk/objects-and-stories/rocket-rainhill-and-rise-locomotive)  to become the fastest locomotive of its time thanks to its innovative design.

This 3D model of Rocket was produced using 22 high resolution LIDAR scans and over 2,500 detailed photographs taken in May 2018. More information on how the Science Museum Group worked with [ScanLAB](https://scanlabprojects.co.uk/) to create the model can be found  in the [Science Museum Group Digital Lab website](https://lab.sciencemuseum.org.uk/scanning-stephensons-rocket-40916fdb4d20).

Stephenson's Rocket

The Thinker (French: Le Penseur) is a bronze sculpture by Auguste Rodin.
Rodin first conceived the figure as part of his work The Gates of Hell commissioned in 1880, but the first of the familiar monumental bronze castings did not appear until 1904.
A bronze cast of the sculpture can be found in the garden of the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek in Copenhagen.
The museum has a unique Rodin collection with a total of 34 sculptures, commissioned directly from the artist himself in the years 1900-1914, including well-known and monumental works.

Wall of Cars (Free Raw Scan)

This is a re-creation of a historical garage located at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The objects you see in the Garage are a combination of 3D scans and models of objects used commonly during the 1960s.

All of the 3D scans were scanned used a Creaform Go Scan 20, & 50. The 3D models were created in Maya.

The Swedish History Museum holds a large collection of bones of various kinds, including human remains. We living humans are both appalled by and attracted to visible evidence of death. The scanned human remains presented on Sketchfab from our museum are important museum artefacts, chosen because they represent a specific historical event. They also represent one of humanity’s worst acts: violence towards other humans. It is therefore our wish that you, as a viewer, use the 3D-models with respect. 

The image shows a human cranium with injuries on its left and front side. A small, square hole above the left eye and on the left cheek bone was probably caused by a pole weapon or a battle axe. The gash across the mouth could have been caused by a sword or a thin bladed axe.The cranium is one of several thousand artifacts found in a mass grave outside Visby on the island Gotland. All remains and objects found on the site stem from a battle between Gotlandic peasants and Danish mercenaries on 27 July 1361.

Lion Skull

Someone in my family owns this beauuuutiful house in Provence. My family and I were lucky enough to stay there this summer. The sound of cicadas was constant during the day, and 2 donkeys (!) kept us company, walking around the property. The house is surrounded by fields of lavender, and old villages. Does this sound dreamy? It was.

Scanned in a few minutes, with an ASUS ZenFone AR phone featuring the full Google Tango hardware / software stack (depth sensor, etc.) and Google's own Constructor 3D scanning app.
