This helmet, with its rather special appearance, is one of the few preserved objects that we know was owned by the Swedish king [Gustav Vasa](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gustav_I_of_Sweden). 

It was made in Germany in 1540, probably in Augsburg or Nuremberg, which were home to some of the most skilled armour makers of the time. The visor, the part that covers the face, did not originally belong to the helmet, but it is thought to be of the same period.

A helmet of this type was made not for battle but for celebratory occasions. In the 16th century, full suits of steel armour were the height of fashion. For parades and other royal festivities, the social elite would dress up in specially-made sets of costume armour with a close helmet. During these celebrations it became popular, in the early 16th century, to wear close helmets with grotesque visors in the form of animal or human faces, like this one, to enhance the festive atmosphere and heighten the sense of theatricality.

The Incom T-65 X-wing starfighter is a fictional spacecraft from the Star Wars franchise. Named for the distinctive shape made when its wings are in attack position, the X-wing was a class of starfighter used by the Rebel Alliance in their conflict with the Galactic Empire. It made its theatrical debut, as the T-65B model, in Star Wars (1977) as the spacecraft piloted by Luke Skywalker and the Red Squadron when Luke destroyed the Death Star.

He’s all theatrical menace and charm: a tall black top hat with a gold band, shock-red curls, arched brows, and a handlebar mustache that practically conducts the air. The expression is pure sideshow—eyes wide, grin gone feral, tongue out in a taunting flourish—caught forever in that moment before the crowd laughs and then wonders why they’re suddenly uneasy. His coat is deep blue with blazing red-and-gold embroidery, like a poster come to life, perched on a small plinth base for display. This incense burner features a biconical pedestal base, resembling an hourglass, and a sculptural lid of theatrical style. The lid contains a central enclosure in which a figure is depicted holding, with both hands, ceremonial scepters topped with owl heads. The figure’s face appears fleshless, suggesting the use of a detachable red mask, complemented by a butterfly-shaped nose ornament. The headdress, forming the upper frame of the censer, is decorated with floral appliqués and two owl masks that flank a stylized face of a supernatural butterfly or a moth —an element symbolically associated with warfare.
