The Flatiron Building, originally the Fuller Building is a triangular 22-story 285-foot-tall (86.9 m) steel-framed landmarked building located at 175 Fifth Avenue in the eponymous Flatiron District neighborhood of the borough of Manhattan, New York City. Designed by Daniel Burnham and Frederick Dinkelberg, it was one of the tallest buildings in the city upon its 1902 completion, at 20 floors high and one of only two "skyscrapers" north of 14th Street – the other being the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company Tower, one block east.

The Chrysler Building is an Art Deco skyscraper in the Turtle Bay neighborhood on the East Side of Manhattan, New York City, at the intersection of 42nd Street and Lexington Avenue near Midtown Manhattan. At 1,046 feet (319 m), it is the tallest brick building in the world with a steel framework, and was the world's tallest building for 11 months after its completion in 1930. As of 2019, the Chrysler is the 11th-tallest building in the city, tied with The New York Times Building.

Nicknames: "CGI Shield", "Shield in the Sky II", "CGI WB Shield", "Shield of Staleness II", "The Reflection of the WB Backlot", "Shield of Steel II"

Logo: A picture of the Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank is seen with a gold tint, and "ripples" slowly before rotating to reveal itself as the WB shield over the quintessential cloud skyline, both of which are now redone in CGI. The shield rotates and zooms out to its usual position, with the company byline fading in underneath.

Trivia: If one pauses right before the transition from the backlot image to the shield animation, posters and murals can be seen on the studio walls on Olive Avenue. As seen in the 75 Years montage, the posters from left to right are: Twister, The Stars Fell on Henrietta, Les Miserables, Space Jam, a The WB Television Network KTLA 5 advertisement, ER, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Murphy Brown, Friends, and a cloud mural featuring shows from Warner Bros. Television, dating the image to somewhere between early to mid 1996.

Greek Slave became the most famous sculpture of the nineteenth century and propelled the artist, Hiram Powers (1805-73), to international stardom. The work was so provocatively lifelike that certain exhibition venues in the United States required that men and women view the sculpture separately. Powers justified the sculpture's full nudity by claiming his work depicted historic events: a Greek woman, captured by Ottoman forces during the War of Independence, had been stripped and chained for sale at a slave market in Constantinople. American viewers in the 1840s and '50s, many of whom had never before seen a sculpture of a nude woman, felt licensed to admire the Greek Slave because she was "clothed all over with sentiment."

Empire State Building, the world's most iconic building, simply known for once being the world's tallest building for 40 years, from 1931 to 1971 when it was surpassed by the World Trade Center North Tower. It is standing at 1,250 feet tall for the roof and 1,454 feet tall for the overall height with its radio-cast TV antenna. It is located in New York City, at 5th Avenue and between 33rd and 34th Street, near Herald Square.

1-3 The lshtar Gate in Babylon Nebuchadnezar (604-562 BC), the King of Babylon, started a series of ambitious building projects including the richly decorated lshtar Gate. A long processional avenue linked the sacred gate to the temple of the city god Marduk and his famous temple tower, known from the Bible as the Tower of  Babel. The facades of the lshtar Gate were decorated with reliefs in glazed tile, representing a dragon, Marduk's emblem, and a bull symbolising the weather god Adad. The processional route away
from the city was decorated with lions, the animals of Ishtar, goddess of love and war, They were to guard against advancing enemies, as is indicated by
the name ofthe gateway: Ishtar conquers its enemy.

This large eagle once stood atop the old First National Bank in downtown Sioux Falls. When the building was demolished during urban renewal, this eagle and a pair of bas-relief panels of Native Americans were salvaged. They are all at street level at the west entrance to the current bank.

The eagle is carved from Indiana limestone, in the Art Deco style, and dates from about 1929. It has stylistic simularities to other eagles carved from the same limestone. Possibly it was based on a modified generic pattern used repeatedly for various architectural sculptures.

This eagle is a beloved local landmark on Phillips Avenue, in downtown Sioux Falls, SD.

MetLife Building, also known as 200 Park Avenue, is a 808-foot tall skyscraper located right behind Grand Central Terminal in between 42nd Street and 43rd Street, close to One Vanderbilt and Chrysler Building. It was built in 1963 and originally called "Panam" building, it was the largest office tower in the world at the time. It unique design defined Manhattan and its skyline as well, it became a landmark after some time it was completed and still very famous and historic to this day. But, did you know that MetLife Building showed up as the Stark Avengers Tower? That's why we think it's not there but actually served as a partially demolished building as a base for the tower itself.

Arc de Triomphe, Paris

The Arc de Triomphe de l'Étoile; lit. 'Triumphal Arch of the Star') is one of the most famous monuments in Paris, France, standing at the western end of the Champs-Élysées at the centre of Place Charles de Gaulle, formerly named Place de l'Étoile—the étoile or "star" of the juncture formed by its twelve radiating avenues. The location of the arc and the plaza is shared between three arrondissements, 16th (south and west), 17th (north), and 8th (east). The Arc de Triomphe honours those who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, with the names of all French victories and generals inscribed on its inner and outer surfaces. The Frank G. Schenuit Rubber Co. factory was located at 1750-60 Union Avenue in Baltimore. Built in the 1840s as a cotton mill, from 1925 to the late 60s, the building was used to manufacture tires. Sadly, it is currently being demolished with plans for a self-storage facility to be built in its place. I will miss seeing the iconic smokestack during my commute to work each day!

Schenuit Rubber Co. factory

A LiDAR landscape of the key archaeological features around Stonehenge including Stonehenge itself, The Avenue, the Cursus and numerous barrow burial mounds. The 1 metre LiDAR is only partial at Stonehenge with many of the sites to the west not included in the current opendata coverage. This is a digital terrain model version which represents the bare ground surface only so prominent buildings, trees and even the stones of the Stonehenge circles are stripped off in this case. 

Created using 1 metre DTM LiDAR opendata provided by the Environment Agency. Built in QGIS using the QGIS2threeJS plugin.

Thanks to Mike Gill of the Avon Valley Archaeological Society for the python code which converts QGIS models into a format compatible with Sketchfab.

Stonehenge LiDAR Archaeology Landscape

Union Carbide Building (aka. 270 Park Avenue/JPMorgan Chase Tower), is a 707-foot tall skyscraper that was demolished and the tallest building in history to be demolished. Started construction in 1957 and completed in 1960 as the world's 9th tallest building in New York City. It then closed in 2018 for demolition. It was demolished to expand office space for a new supertall 270 Park Avenue that is twice its height. Feel free to download this building if you like to make your own city skyline. :)

Union Carbide Building

My biggest 3D scan to date! Located in downtown Baltimore, this sewage pumping station is perhaps the most beautiful public works building in the city.

"Designed by architect Henry Brauns and completed in 1912, the Eastern Avenue Pumping Station was the architectural crown jewel in the city’s ambitious plan to provide its citizens with modern-day sanitary sewage system. Baltimore’s topography dictated the location, essentially allowing gravity to transport wastewater created in downtown directly to the station...Today’s wastewater is pumped using modern electric pumps to its final destination at the Back River Wastewater Treatment Plan approximately six miles east of the station."

Eastern Avenue Sewage Pumping Station

This is a small midwestern apartment, found commonly in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This example is based on a building located on Portland Avenue in the Phillips neighborhood. It was constructed between 1910 and 1920, and the design is common among buildings constrcuted at the time.

An old piece of the exterior (corner of West Poultry Avenue and Charterhouse Street) of Smithfield Market, London. This part of Smithfield Market is currently being redeveloped to become the new Museum of London so I though it would be useful to document before the change.

Roof level has been removed as scan was poor in that area.
