However, because the Karlmann King weighs an abnormally-heavy 10,580 pounds (Without armor), its top speed is a mere 87 mph. The car features optional bullet proofing. Only 9 units will be built in Italy, however a larger, unknown number will be built in the United States in a modified and more standardized version. Other features include independent air conditioning for the front and rear, a coffee machine, neon sky lighting, a flat-screen TV, electric tables, air purification, a bar, a laptop and a fridge. All of the electric features can be controlled via an in and out-car app or a built-in control panel. Entertainment options include a Hi-Fi sound system, a PlayStation 4, phone projection, satellite TV and Wi-Fi.

It’s unique aerodynamic design, coupled with its special devices, makes this car the leader of a pack of little more than second-rate contenders. The Mach 5 is a unique car. With manual gears (as of The Secret Engine) and a top speed of ~250 mph (as of Speed Racer on Super NES) making this a capable machine. The Mach 5 is an open roof design with 2 seats, a trunk, and no radio.

In Episode 2, “The Great Plan,” and again in Episode 26, “The Car Hater,” an overview of the Mach 5’s control panel - narrated by Speed in the dub and Pops in the original - both enlightens and reminds us of the beauty of this truly remarkable machine. The hub of the Mach 5’s steering wheel features seven lettered buttons, each of which activates a customized accessory designed by Pops Racer.
