A quick experiment (edit: now a WIP for the [mechanimal challenge](https://blog.sketchfab.com/sketchfab-3d-modeling-challenge-mechanical-animals/) I just discovered!) with hard-surface, and I still have a long way to go !

This model is (more than) based on ["The Timber Beneath"](http://www.scoobasteve.co.nz/2013/01/the-timber-beneath.html), a wonderful sculpture by **Stephen Lambert**.

The different "organs" as well as textures were just randomly thrown around, but with some more practicing, I definitely think I'll start enjoying this style and find a nice designing/modeling/texturing workflow, to hopefully design original models some day.

Also, none of the mechanisms make any "mechanical sense", which is why I did not animate the model. As before, that could change with some more attention brought to details, and a little bit of thinking before acting :D

The firefly squid is found in the Western Pacific ocean at depths of 183 to 366 metres (600–1200 feet) and is bioluminescent. The mantle, head, arms and tentacles are dotted with tiny, light-producing organs called photophores. When flashed, the light attracts small fish, which the squid can feed upon.

The female reproductive system of the rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) is specially adapted for internal fertilization, gestation, and live birth. It consists of paired and unpaired organs arranged within the abdominal and pelvic regions.

The system includes a pair of ovaries, which are small, oval-shaped structures responsible for producing ova (eggs) and female hormones. Each ovary is connected to a long, coiled oviduct (fallopian tube) that transports the ovum toward the uterus and serves as the site of fertilization.

A unique feature of the rabbit is its duplex uterus, where two completely separate uterine horns are present, each leading to its own cervix. This adaptation allows rabbits to carry multiple embryos efficiently. The cervices open into a single vagina, which leads externally through the vulva.

This reproductive system supports the rabbit’s high reproductive capacity and plays a crucial role in ovulation, fertilization, implantation, gestation, and parturition.

This 3D model represents the heart and lungs of a rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus), created with a focus on anatomical accuracy and educational clarity. The model demonstrates the close anatomical relationship between the cardiovascular and respiratory systems in a small mammal.

The heart shows realistic external morphology, including atrial and ventricular regions, while the lungs display correct lobation, size, and positioning relative to the heart. Together, these organs help illustrate how oxygenated blood circulation and respiration are functionally connected in mammals.

Rabbit Lungs

Dr. Joseph Randolph is the main antagonist of the indie horror game The Heilwald Loophole. As the egotistical chief doctor of the once-prestigious Heilwald Klinikum, he promises that “no one dies at Heilwald” — a creed he twists into horrific reality by trapping the hospital in brutal time loops and subjecting patients and staff to grotesque experimentation and abuse. Charismatic at first, Randolph hides his cruelty behind a calm facade while manipulating, injuring, and torturing those under his care. His unethical “treatments” include removing organs and bizarre procedures that break all medical oaths, reflecting his lack of empathy and genuine medical skill. Behind his politeness lies a remorseless, self-serving madman whose actions spawn the hospital’s monstrosities. In the finale, Randolph’s corruption transforms him into a massive, horrifying creature, and the protagonist must exploit the time loop to defeat him, ending his reign of suffering.

tissues while removing carbon dioxide and metabolic waste. It maintains blood pressure and ensures 
continuous perfusion of organs essential for survival.

This 3D model represents the reproductive system of the Indian cattle leech (Hirudinaria granulosa), a hermaphroditic annelid belonging to Class Hirudinea. Each individual possesses both male and female reproductive organs, but reproduction usually occurs through cross-fertilization between two leeches.

The male reproductive system includes multiple pairs of testes, vas deferens, seminal vesicles, and a male genital pore for sperm transfer.
The female reproductive system consists of ovaries, oviducts, and a female genital pore.

After fertilization, the leech secretes a cocoon from the clitellum, where the eggs develop outside the body until hatching.

This model is useful for studying annelid reproduction, hermaphroditism, and invertebrate anatomy.

Transposition of the great arteries (TGA) occurs when the two main arteries are blood vessels leaving the heart or reversed and there is a hole in the wall between the right and left ventricle called a ventricular septal defect (VSD). The pulmonary artery arises from the left ventricle (instead of the right), sending oxygen-rich blood back to the lungs. The aorta arises from the right ventricle (instead of the left), sending oxygen-poor blood back to the body. This misrouting stops oxygen from being delivered to the body’s tissues and organs and can be life-threatening. The VSD can allow the for the deoxygenated and oxygenated blood to mix. Babies can look blue, especially around the lips and nails. They can have a fast heart rate, fast breathing, and poor feeding.

The morphology of a flower, or its form and structure, can be considered in two parts: the vegetative part, consisting of non-reproductive structures such as petals; and the reproductive or sexual parts. A stereotypical flower is made up of four kinds of structures attached to the tip of a short stalk or axis, called a receptacle. Each of these parts or floral organs is arranged in a spiral called a whorl. The four main whorls (starting from the base of the flower or lowest node and working upwards) are the calyx, corolla, androecium, and gynoecium. Together the calyx and corolla make up the non-reproductive part of the flower called the perianth, and in some cases may not be differentiated. If this is the case, then they are described as tepals.

Blood that has travelled through the body enters the right atrium via the superior and inferior caval vein. It then travels to the right ventricle, passing the tricuspid valve. It is then pumped into the pulmonary artery, towards the lungs. In the lungs, oxygen is bound to the blood; it becomes oxygen-rich. Subsequently, the oxygen-rich blood enters the left atrium. Passing the Mitral valve, the blood enters the left ventricle. The left ventricle pumps the blood into the aorta, upon which it travels to all the organs and tissues in the body, providing them from oxygen. Once it has done so, it travels back to the right atrium.
