A Hindu temple, or mandir or koil in Indian languages, is a house, seat and body of divinity for Hindus. It is a structure designed to bring human beings and gods together through worship, sacrifice, and devotion. The symbolism and structure of a Hindu temple are rooted in Vedic traditions, deploying circles and squares. It also represents recursion and the representation of the equivalence of the macrocosm and the microcosm by astronomical numbers, and by "specific alignments related to the geography of the place and the presumed linkages of the deity and the patron". A temple incorporates all elements of the Hindu cosmos — presenting the good, the evil and the human, as well as the elements of the Hindu sense of cyclic time and the essence of life — symbolically presenting dharma, artha, kama, moksa, and karma

Ganesha, also known as Ganapati and Vinayaka, is one of the best-known and most worshipped deities in the Hindu pantheon.
Ganesha is widely revered as the remover of obstacles, the patron of arts and sciences and the deva of intellect and wisdom. 
As the god of beginnings, he is honoured at the start of rites and ceremonies. Ganesha is also invoked as patron of letters and learning during writing sessions.

This wooden decoration was found while wondering around the traditional art market of Ubud, Bali.

Muse in the park of Belvedere Palace in the 3rd district of Vienna. The statue is depicted with a lyre. It could be the Olympic muse Terpsichore. 

In Greek mythology, muses are patron goddesses of the arts.

Luke is considered the author of the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles in the New Testament. The feast of St Luke is celebrated in the Orthodox Churches, the Roman Catholic Church, the Armenian Church and the Anglican Church on 18 October. The saint is considered the patron saint of doctors, surgeons and the sick.

Halikko Church is an Evangelical Lutheran church in Halikko, Finland. The first parts of the church were built in the 13th century, and Halikko Church is one of the 73 medieval stone churches of Finland.

Halikko Church was built in the mid-13th century. Most likely local manor owners the Horn family financed the construction. Therefore, Åminne manor had a right to patronage the priests of Halikko. Halikko Church was first a Roman Catholic church and its protector saint was Saint Bridget.

The Church needed to be expanded and mended in the late-18th century. The first expansion was made in 1799, and the second expansion was made between 1813 and 1815. During the second expansion the church was made cross-shaped. The old sacristy, weapon room and the grave of Horn-family had to be removed that the new parts could be built. At the same time, the whole church was renewed from the inside. An architect Charles Bassi designed the whole operation.

Takashi Murakami Flower

The sculpture depicts St Olaf, the patron saint of Norway. It originally stood in [Bunge church](https://bit.ly/3kRRJxG) on the Swedish island of Gotland. It is dated to the early 14th century. A number of sculptures from the same period are assumed to be from the same artisan, called the Bunge Master.

The sculpture is carved in oak. Religious sculptures in Gothic style have extravagant dresses with many folds. In the deep folds of the St Olaf sculpture traces of red, green and blue paint as well as gilding are visible.
[St Olaf (Olaf Haraldsson)](https://bit.ly/3yGw6VO) was a Norwegian King living between 995 and 1030. He introduced Christianity in Norway, in the same way his father-in-law [Olof Skötkonung](https://bit.ly/3talcGT) did in Sweden.

Portal Votivkirche

Ce monstre, à la fois reptile, chauve-souris, aigle et scorpion, est une figure légendaire présente dans les récits de la vie de sainte Radegonde, fondatrice de l'abbaye Sainte-Croix au 6e siècle et patronne de Poitiers. Selon les traditions, cette Grand’ Goule dévorait les religieuses du couvent avant que Radegonde ne l'abatte  d'une malédiction et d'un signe de croix.

Cette effigie, en bois polychrome dont la gueule est articulée, mesure près de deux mètres de long, Elle fut exécutée par le maître-sculpteur Jean Gargot en 1677, comme l'atteste la signature apposée sur le poitrail. Elle succède certainement à des représentations du monstre sur bannières.

The Statue of St Philip by Giuseppe Mazzuoli (c. 1703–1711) is housed in the Archbasilica of St. John Lateran in Rome. This 4.25-meter marble statue was part of Pope Clement XI's commission for twelve colossal apostle figures to fill the niches designed by Francesco Borromini
. Mazzuoli was among the leading sculptors involved in the project. The statue exhibits a solemn grandeur, reflecting the transition from late Baroque to classicism. The final version was completed in 1711, with a reduced marble copy made for the patron now in Nuremberg.

聖腓力像 St Phillip Statue in Laterano, Rome

The Nepomuk Chapel in Mauerbach is a small Baroque structure from the early 18th century and was built around 1722. It is one of the typical open canopy chapels erected in honor of Saint John of Nepomuk, an important patron saint of bridges and water. The chapel is open on all sides through round-arched openings and is supported by pillars, giving it a pavilion-like character. Inside stands a statue of the saint, who is venerated as a martyr and patron saint against water-related dangers.

A surrounding balustrade delineates the sacred space and is adorned with decorative putto figures, which, as cherubim, symbolize the heavenly sphere. The chapel is a typical example of Baroque popular piety and remains a culturally and historically significant monument to this day.

Nepomukkapelle

The statue of St. Francis of Assisi in the Lainzer Tiergarten is closely associated with the concept of animal welfare, as the saint is considered the patron saint of animals. It was created in 1934 by the sculptor Josef Josephu and was originally erected in the Bird Sanctuary near the Hermes Villa. Later, it was moved to the Vienna Animal Shelter, where it stood for many years before being restored and returned to its original location.

The statue depicts St. Francis of Assisi with outstretched arms, surrounded by animals, symbolizing his special connection to nature. He stands on a stone pedestal that also serves as a birdbath. Overall, the depiction appears serene and inviting and blends harmoniously into the natural surroundings of the Tiergarten.

LEGO HP patrunus

Aguamanil (BAY23-1287-1-24)  proveniente de la excavación de Bayra (Vera, Almería). A nivel tecnológico vemos que su producción ha sido en un ambiente oxidante. En cuanto a su forma presenta un cuerpo cilíndirco hueco el cuál ha sido fragmentado. Se observa el negativo de un apéndice cilíndrico por el que vertiría el agua. Este cuerpo principal presenta dos apéndices cónicos simulando las patas de un animal. En cuanto a la decoración, vemos que presenta motivos geométricos pintados en negro tanto en los laterales, repitiendo un patrón en espiga, como en la base del cuerpo donde se observa un patrón en damero.

Virgin and child

This marble carving is a **heraldic coat of arms (stemma)** located inside the Siena Cathedral. The shield prominently features a **lion in a rampant pose**, a common symbol representing strength, courage, and authority. Such emblems were used to identify noble families, bishops, or important patrons associated with the cathedral.

These coats of arms were typically installed on altars, chapels, or architectural elements to signify **patronage and contribution**. Wealthy families or church officials who funded construction, decoration, or restoration works were often granted the privilege of displaying their crest within the cathedral.

Beyond decoration, the carving reflects Siena’s historical social and political structure, where religion, power, and family identity were closely intertwined. Today, these heraldic symbols serve as historical markers, offering insight into the individuals and families who played a significant role in shaping the cathedral’s rich artistic and cultural heritage.

Ceramic figure representing an elderly woman with her hair pulled back, exposed bust, and crossed legs. She possibly represents the Old Moon Goddess, patron of medicine, childbirth, procreation, and women. She holds removable elements in both hands: a plant in her right hand and a small, unidentified animal in her left. This figure dates to the Classic period (150/200 A.D.–900 A.D.) and originates from the Pacific Coast of Guatemala.

Old Moon Goddess

Tapadera proveniente del Castillejo de los Güajares (Guajar Faragüit). Ha sido modelada a torno y con cocida en un ambiente oxidante. Morfologicamente presenta un cuerpo semicircular con un borde horizontal y labio redondeado. Tiene además un asidero cilíndrico gallonado. Como decoración presenta un patron de ondas incisas limitado por dos líneas incisas.

Tapadera

The statue, dating from 1725, depicts Saint John of Nepomuk as a standing figure on a tall, richly decorated pedestal. The figure is clad in a long priestly robe, over which he wears a cloak that falls in soft folds over his shoulders and arms. His head is tilted slightly forward, lending the figure a calm, devout demeanor.

In his hands, the saint holds a cross, which he carries before him and gazes upon—a typical attribute of Nepomuk, symbolizing his piety and martyrdom. His posture appears overall reserved and composed, almost meditative.

The pedestal beneath the figure features Baroque-style curves and is adorned with ornamental decorations and a coat-of-arms relief. In the upper section of the pedestal, small arch-like openings are suggested, reminiscent of a bridge. This detail indicates that the statue originally stood near a bridge—a common motif, as John of Nepomuk is considered the patron saint of bridges.

Hl. Nepomuk

The so-called Saint Abban's (or Abán) Grave near Ballymakerra/ Ballymakeery in County Cork. It is part of the pattern around St Abán's Well nearby. It consists of a cairn, three ogham stones and a bullaun stone, decorated with devotionalia. The patron day is March 16. This model was done on the 21st, but the local community arrived the same day about 10 mins after we left. They had been delayed by several things and actually celebrated on the 21st.

Saint Eligius (c. 588–660) was a gifted goldsmith who became master of the royal mint under Frankish kings. Known for his honesty and skill, he later became a priest and Bishop of Noyon, working as a missionary in Frankish-Frisian borderlands. He used his wealth to help the poor, free slaves, and build churches. Famous legends include him miraculously healing a horse by removing and reattaching its leg to shoe it—hence his symbols: hammer, anvil, horseshoe, and chalice.
He is the patron saint of goldsmiths, silversmiths, blacksmiths, metalworkers, and farriers.
To reflect women’s growing role in the Church and goldsmithing, artist Bernd Löning reimagined the saint as Saint Eligia, a female version.
