To create the relief decor the steel has been [chased](https://goo.gl/FzoAbd), [embossed](https://goo.gl/i8gDzz), [etched](https://goo.gl/mKJri6) and [gilded](https://goo.gl/XSUdps). The motif is inspired by tales from antiquity and depicts [amazons](https://goo.gl/nqvY1j) fighting male warriors. It is probably a battle scene from the [Trojan war](https://goo.gl/LXsTkq). According to the myth the amazons supported [King Priam of Troy](https://goo.gl/QBjvTe) in the war but also lost their queen [Penthesileia](https://goo.gl/YvCSFg) when she was killed by [Achilles](https://goo.gl/TVPqit).

The Saurus form one of the core species of the conglomerate Lizardmen race, created by the Old Ones to be the warriors and guardians of their society. The Kroxigor form one of the core species of the Lizardmen race, created by the Old Ones as strong and obedient construction workers, labourers and in times of war, powerful warriors. Under the guidance of Skink overseers, Kroxigors accomplish many great tasks that would require a great amount of strength to muster, such as hauling and placing the massive stone blocks instrumental in the composition of the ziggurat temples
Perhaps due to the tedium of their labours, the Kroxigor were never intended to be mentally agile. They are extremely simple-minded creatures that require and often desire direction and would instinctively obey all instructions from their smaller kin with an almost alien level of obedience.

Rock 6 at Foppe di Nadro has a glacier-smoothed surface and, with around one thousand figures, is one of the most densely engraved rocks in this area.  The figures mostly date from the middle to late Iron Age.

It is possible to see all the classical themes of the Camunian rock cycle: footprints (single, coupled and some with internal decoration), human figures (warriors predominating), buildings, weapons, animals and a number of geometric symbols (such as the five-pointed star).

The small section of this rock surface represented in the 3D model presnts one of the most well-known scenes of Valcamonica rock art: two pairs of fighters.  These are of the Naturalistic Period (around 500-300 BC). The fighters are realistically represented in a dynamic posture. One couple fighting with short swords, shields and crested helms, the other engaged in a boxing match.

The group of figures below are in a simpler, more geometric form.  They look cruder but are later, around 1st century BC.

Bikini Warriors - Crimson Fighter

A smaller surface in relation to the many very large carved rocks at Foppe di Nadro.  The rock has been extensively smoothed by glacial action.

The engravings here represent two phases of carving.  The first phast presents engravings from the Neolithic Age (4th millennium BC), with 28 praying figures, of which several can be seen here on the 3D model.  They have both schematic and curved arms.  These are contemporary with the circle motifs with a dot in the centre and two figures recognisable as halberds.

The second phase starts from the Middle IronAge and the panel is densely engraved with figures of warriors wielding swords, shields & spears.

The rock also displays some historic phase motifs, with filiforms of lines, half-circles and grids and some Medieval crosses.

Valcamonica, Foppe di Nadro - Rock 35

This small rock was engraved during the second half of the first millennium BC.  The Chronology can be determined through the typology of the weapons clasped by the duelists.  The central section of the rock is decorated with several pairs of battling warriors.  They brandish axes with expanded blades, also represented separately near the warriors, and in some cases they hold decorated shields.

At the far right there are two quatrefoil rosa camuni symbols, adopted as the present day emblem of the Lombardy region.

Unfortunately, this model has not turned out well as the photos must have had to have been shot at distance,  from the walkway.

It shows the image of 'a great horse, horseman and squire.'  It is one of many middle to late Iron-Age engravings on the rock - fighting warriors, dogs, deer, footprints, five pointed stars and other symbols.  

The horse was an important status symbol during the Iron Age.  This small grouping may also underline the clear distinction of social roles between the horseman (perhaps a local 'prince') armed with a shield & spear, and the squire, who holds the rider's second spear and leads the horse on foot.

This is quite a well known little cameo from the rock art of Valcamonica.  I've got to admit that I find it a little comical as the animal seems to closely resemble a pantomome horse.  Hopefully, on my next visit to Valcamonica I will manage to obtain a better sequence of photographs on of it.

Today, swords are also popular in fantasy stories, films, video games, and 3D game assets, where artists often create detailed sword models using software like Autodesk Maya and render or use them in real-time engines such as Unreal Engine for games and visual effects. ⚔️

Sword

Polychrome anthropomorphic whistle in the form of a standing dwarf figure, with the right hand resting on the hip and the left hand holding a fan raised beside the face. The fan is circular, with concentric decoration and what appear to be feathered elements. The figure wears a padded or fringed costume of the type later known in Mesoamerica as tlahuiztli, generally associated with warriors during the Postclassic period; over this garment, a hip cloth is worn. The headdress consists of a plain band encircling the hair, which is tied upward and backward, with incised details and blue paint suggesting feathers. Additional ornaments include elongated earspools, a necklace tied at the front with an oval pendant, and blue-painted sandals.

Rock 12, the is the largest area of exposed bedrock at Seradina and, with its hundreds of carvings, constitutes an exceptional window on the world of the Iron Age Valcamonica tribes.

The wide surface is one of the most important and well-known in the whole of Valcamonica rock art and is marked by themes which make it unique in the context of the local Iron Age.

On this small section of Rock 12, a there is a row of relatively small armed warriors who, with their arms aloft, appear to be paying some sort of tribute to a much large, animated, human figure above, who is armed with a shield and long spear.

a human figure  larger than the others is positioned in the centre of the composition, His power, which has nothing to do with weapons, is emphasosed by his large hands, large feet and clearly visible gender.  The exceptional elements indicate him as a possible deity, shaman or ancestor-spirit (early Iron Age).

Curved Blade Worn

This relatively small rock is mostly decorated with carvings from the Copper & Bronze Ages.  Its surface is densely engraved with images of weapons, mainly daggers, in use in the Copper Age (3300-2200 BC) and the First Bronze Age (2200-1800 BC). 

Actual copper daggers, with a triangular blade & half-round pommel, like these have been discovered during archaeological excavations in the big Copper Age cemetery found in Remedello at the end of the nineteenth century.  

Other daggers show stretched and elongated blades, a type more common during the Bronze Age.  On the left, two fighting warriors have been date to within the late Bronze Age, about 1200-1000 BC.

The sub-area of Seradina 3 is located over the rocky slope that connects Seradina to Bedolina.  It includes more than 60 rock art  panels whose figurative themes cover a time span of more than 5000 years.  The majority of rock art is found in dangerous spots, sometimes on overhanging spurs or in hidden corners of the territory.  this rock is on the short route of the rock in the lowest part of the area.

Rock 9 is in an accessible, lower area. It is crossed by a deep glacial groove and is richly carved with fighting warriors, animals and circles.
