Loomis Head with Cheekbones

This bust depicts Gheorghe Grigore Cantacuzino, one of Romania’s most influential political figures of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, known as “Nababul” for his immense wealth and social standing. Sculpted in 1906 by Vasile Chiriachide, the work exemplifies the refined academic realism characteristic of Romanian sculpture from the period.

Cantacuzino is portrayed in a richly detailed military‑style ceremonial uniform, complete with medals, decorations, and a sash that emphasizes his status and authority. His posture is upright and dignified, projecting confidence and gravitas. The sculptor pays particular attention to the facial features—strong cheekbones, a pronounced mustache, and a composed, forward‑looking gaze—capturing both the personality and the public image of the statesman.

Today, the statue is preserved and displayed at Cantacuzino Castle in Bușteni.

Miniature anthropomorphic effigy vessel with convergent walls and a narrow mouth, featuring two horizontal rings below the rim and orange-on-white negative decoration. The body is decorated with the face of an elderly individual in relief, displaying open eyes, a prominent nose, a closed mouth, accentuated cheekbones, and a prominent chin. The undulating lines of the negative decoration resemble wrinkles.

Miniature Anthropomorphic Effigy Vessel

Hollow figurine representing a standing man playing a cylindrical drum positioned in front of him. The facial features, twisted mouth to one side and prominent cheekbones, suggest that the figure may represent an elderly man. He wears a brimmed hat, a flower-shaped ear ornament, and a cord necklace with a drum. The left ear ornament is missing due to breakage. Provenance indicated in the Cultural Property Registry record: Chamá, Alta Verapaz.

Hacha with fleshed face

Stone tenon sculpted in the form of an anthropomorphic face, likely male. The figure wears a headdress with paired lateral projections, each embellished with vertical incisions and a   thickened lower termination. The hair is modeled as a voluminous mass articulated with groove decoration. The facial features include open circular eyes, a flat nose, pronounced cheekbones, a closed mouth, and a grooved lower lip. A cylindrical projection is preserved on the reverse, functioning as what would have secured the element within an architectural wall.

Anthropomorphic tenon

Nadia Valeska carries the kind of composure that reads as power before she says a word. Hair pulled back clean and tight, she presents a sculpted profile—high cheekbones, strong brow, and a steady, unsmiling mouth that suggests she’s listening for the real point. The lighting and surface detail keep her grounded in realism: smooth skin with subtle tonal variation, crisp facial planes, and a long, elegant neck that gives the bust a gallery-quality silhouette.
