Èze has been described as an “eagle's nest” because of its location overlooking a high cliff 427 metres (1,401 ft) above sea level on the French Mediterranean. It is so high that the light ochre church within (Notre Dame de l’Assomption built in 1764) can be seen from afar. Friedrich Nietzsche stayed in one of the oldest houses of Eze and found inspiration for his third part of "Thus spake Zarathoustra" while climbing to the village by the path. Imitates the battle sample. Double axes were known in the ancient civilizations of the Mediterranean, and often had a ritual or sacred significance. Consists of a handle and the axe head. Made of steel and shaped as two crescents, located symmetrically about the central axis of the handle. The axe tube goes into a flat tip, consisting of a notched "apple" and rhombic plume. The handle is steel, octagonal, with a knob on the end. The tip has engraving in Arabic (1201-?); both-the axe and the tip-decorated with floral ornament and stylized images of animals. The upper part of the handle is decorated with floral ornament inlaid with silver.

Decorative Double-Bladed Battle Axe

Mount Carmel is a coastal mountain range in northern Israel stretching from the Mediterranean Sea towards the southeast. A number of towns are situated there, most notably the city of Haifa, Israel's third largest city, located on the northern and western slopes. The range is a UNESCO biosphere reserve. 

Due to the lush vegetation on the sloped hillside, and many caves on the steeper side, Carmel became the haunt of criminals. In ancient Canaanite culture, high places were frequently considered to be sacred, and Mount Carmel appears to have been no exception.  

In mainstream Jewish, Christian, and Islamic thought, Elijah is associated with the mountain, and he is regarded as having sometimes resided on the mountain.  The Bible's book of 1 Kings 18, records a showdown between Elijah and the prophets of Baal. In that account, the God of Elijah sends fire from heaven to consume a sacrifice of testing, proving which diety is the true and living one.  The event takes place on this mountain.   -Nate Loper

This is a 3D model of “The Terme Boxer” attributed to Apollonius, and one of the few surviving bronze statues from the classical era. This muscular man is seated on a stone structure, wearing only boxing attire such as wraps for his hands and penis. The Terme Boxer represents a change in depicting heroic figures, from beautiful unburdened youth to a man beaten down by life yet still looking upwards, signaling changing virtues in the Mediterranean from purity to hardiness.

Azov (Russian: Азов; Russian pre-reform: Азовъ) was a 74-gun ship of the line of the Imperial Russian Navy. Azov was built in 1826 to compensate the losses of the disastrous 1824 Saint Petersburg flood. In the same year Azov, commanded by Mikhail Lazarev, became the flagship of Admiral Login Geiden's First Mediterranean Squadron and sailed to the Aegean on a joint English-French-Russian peacekeeping mission. On October 20 [O.S. October 8] 1827 Azov spearheaded the Russian squadron in the Battle of Navarino. She engaged numerous enemy ships and sustained heavy damage.

3D scan of the calcium carbonate skeleton of a stony coral (*Coeloria lamellina*). This coral was collected during the Austro-Hungarian deep-sea expeditions of 1890–1898. Onboard of the SMS Pola scientists conducted the first comprehensive oceanographic and biological studies of the Mediterranean and Red Seas.
