Homo neanderthalensis skull

A 5th century AD monastery, the largest in the Judean desert. The complex is built on the southern cliffs of the Kidron creek, and is protected inside a walled area with dozens of structures. It was established by Saint Sabas (Arabic: Mar Saba, Syriac: Lord Saba), and named after him. The monastery started as a place of seclusion of few monks in the caves, led by Sabas. Over the years it was built, expanded, and fortified. During the peak times it housed about 500 monks.
   The site is located 10KM east of Bethlehem, near the desert road to Jerusalem. It is 250M above sea level, hanging over a steep cliff above the Kidron creek. The Kidron starts from the valley between the temple mount and Mount of olives in Jerusalem, and flows eastwards to the Dead sea.

Les parts que la constitueixen són casc, cuirassa, escarselló, genollera, canyellera, guardabraços, bavera i màscara, que s’utilitzava tant per protegir el rostre com per espantar l’enemic. Es conserva a la Biblioteca Museu Víctor Balaguer.

**ES** La armadura es del tipo domaru, utilizada sobre todo por los guerreros de infantería. Las partes que la constituyen son casco, coraza, escarcela, rodillera, muñequera, guardabrazos, babera y máscara, que se utilizaba tanto para proteger el rostro como para asustar al enemigo. Se conserva en la Biblioteca Museu Víctor Balaguer.

1-3 The lshtar Gate in Babylon Nebuchadnezar (604-562 BC), the King of Babylon, started a series of ambitious building projects including the richly decorated lshtar Gate. A long processional avenue linked the sacred gate to the temple of the city god Marduk and his famous temple tower, known from the Bible as the Tower of  Babel. The facades of the lshtar Gate were decorated with reliefs in glazed tile, representing a dragon, Marduk's emblem, and a bull symbolising the weather god Adad. The processional route away
from the city was decorated with lions, the animals of Ishtar, goddess of love and war, They were to guard against advancing enemies, as is indicated by
the name ofthe gateway: Ishtar conquers its enemy.

This is a 3D model of an ancient marble statue in the Louvre Museum, Paris (catalog #Ma2369). The Nike of Samothrace is an example of Greek Hellenistic sculpture, and has been dated to c. 190 BCE. Its name derives from the location where it was discovered, the Island of Samothrace. Nike is sometimes shown perched atop a ship's peak, and sometimes not, like this model.

Mount Carmel is a coastal mountain range in northern Israel stretching from the Mediterranean Sea towards the southeast. A number of towns are situated there, most notably the city of Haifa, Israel's third largest city, located on the northern and western slopes. The range is a UNESCO biosphere reserve. 

Due to the lush vegetation on the sloped hillside, and many caves on the steeper side, Carmel became the haunt of criminals. In ancient Canaanite culture, high places were frequently considered to be sacred, and Mount Carmel appears to have been no exception.  

In mainstream Jewish, Christian, and Islamic thought, Elijah is associated with the mountain, and he is regarded as having sometimes resided on the mountain.  The Bible's book of 1 Kings 18, records a showdown between Elijah and the prophets of Baal. In that account, the God of Elijah sends fire from heaven to consume a sacrifice of testing, proving which diety is the true and living one.  The event takes place on this mountain.   -Nate Loper

According to the Hebrew Bible, Solomon's Temple, also known as the First Temple, was the Holy Temple in ancient Jerusalem before its destruction by Nebuchadnezzar II after the Siege of Jerusalem of 587 BCE and its subsequent replacement with the Second Temple in 516 BCE. The period in which the First Temple presumably, or actually, stood in Jerusalem, is known in academic literature as the First Temple period
The Hebrew Bible states that the temple was constructed under Solomon, king of the United Kingdom of Israel and Judah and that during the Kingdom of Judah, the temple was dedicated to Yahweh. During different periods of its operation, Asherah, Baal, the host of heaven and a solarays that "the temple was burnt four hundred and seventy years, six months, and ten days after it was built.

This is a 3D model of “The Terme Boxer” attributed to Apollonius, and one of the few surviving bronze statues from the classical era. This muscular man is seated on a stone structure, wearing only boxing attire such as wraps for his hands and penis. The Terme Boxer represents a change in depicting heroic figures, from beautiful unburdened youth to a man beaten down by life yet still looking upwards, signaling changing virtues in the Mediterranean from purity to hardiness.
