Between 1410 and 1425, a mural with originally 30 and today still 24 dancing couples was created in the abbey of La Chaise-Dieu. The Dance of Death is the representation of the influence and power of death that emerged in the 14th century. Death dances with everyone, whether king, knight, maid, clergyman or child.

Dance of Death/Danse Macabre

**Dating:** 450 - 260 BCE

Openwork belt hook made from bronze. The basic shape is triangular. At the upper end, there is a hook that curves inwards. The fastening end is also triangular in shape, and five rivets are utilised to secure the end of the strap. The belt hook is embellished with openwork and cut-out patterns. The geometric patterns consist primarily of teardrop-shaped and circular motifs. The belt hook is used to fasten a belt by hooking it into a belt loop or a ring. Thechnologically it is a simple design which offers a quicker handling. However in contrast to a belt buckle, it was easily comes undone.

This 3D mechanical component was designed using parametric CAD modeling.
The model represents a mounting bracket that includes a cylindrical support, side mounting hole, and a threaded hole on the base for fastening.

A sectional view is also shown to visualize the internal geometry and thread structure. This type of component is commonly used in mechanical assemblies to support shafts, rods, or other machine elements.

Mechanical Mounting Bracket with Threaded Hole

This model has been generated from 190 images taken with a Go Pro Hero 9 camera using Agisoft Metashape sofware at low resolution. The holes in the model show some of the problems that the software has coping with surfaces of water that may be in motion with wind ripples. The low resolution of the processing, in this instance, has removed texture details from the surrounding sand and from the ship's timbers. The vessel itself is presently unidentified but likely to the mid to late 19th century in origin, from the character of its metal fastenings. The overall size and shape suggests a sailing Trow or sloop - a typical smaller coastal trading vessel from that period. This site is one of a cluster of visible wreck remains is the centre of the long beach at Pembrey/Cefn Sidan. This cluster may reflect where master might direct his vessel to be beached, after recognising that the vessel had become embayed in the prevailing wind and sea conditions. This split clamp pivot support bracket was designed and modeled using Autodesk Inventor with a parametric feature-based workflow.

The component features a circular clamping ring with a split section for fastening, a reinforced support arm, and a secondary cylindrical boss for pivot or linkage connection. A mounting block with through-hole enables assembly integration.

The model demonstrates key solid modeling operations including extrusion, cut features, fillets, and rib reinforcement. The geometry is structured for mechanical stability and practical manufacturing considerations.

The brooch is decorated with a hexagonal, star-shaped frame with lily-shaped tips, which is adorned with a pearl bar decoration. In the center of the indented sides there are six-petaled flowers. The frame is completely gilded, and the cast and re-drilled eyelet is used for fastening with a pin.
Such brooches constituted a significant aspect of high and late medieval fashion. These are typically positioned on the front of the coat, either on the shoulder or the chest.

The iron riding spur or prong spur is characterised by a long stimulus with a pyramidal end. One of the shanks is broken off, while the other ends in a rectangular fastening element. It shows signs of severe corrosion. 
A spur is a curved piece of metal with a spike or wheel attached to riding boots, which is used when riding to support the leg aids. The spur can be used in two different ways: on the one hand, the use of the spur enables more precise signalling, and on the other hand, it can be used as a means of forcing the horse to obey.

Prong Spur

This model was generated from 93 images taken with GoPro Hero Black 9 camera using Agisoft Metashape at high resolution. The name of the vessel is presently unknown, but it is believed to be the remains of one of the many small oyster skiffs that once worked around Swansea Bay. Indeed, during the peak of the industry between 1850-1873, over 1 million oysters were being landed per year at the Mumbles. Oyster skiffs were a small specialised sailing craft, typically measuring between 37-40ft (11.2-12.1m) in length, with a keel of about 31ft (9.5m). The remains comprise a keel, large metal fastenings and a few frames on the port side and match these dimensions. The beach sediment transport direction is south-westward towards Mumbles Head. This was evident on repeat visits, with a build up of largely windblown sand on the northern side of the wreck. Otherwise, the beach sediment levels are reported to be staple. The spur with a six-pointed wheel is forged from iron. The object has a long neck, is equipped with a fastening mechanism and has a curved shape. The star-shaped wheel is mounted so that it can move at the widened end.
Towards the end of the 13th century, a movable wheel was attached to the spurs of the spike tip. This reproduction of the spike can be considered an optimisation of the spur, as its arrangement exerts a stronger effect on the horse's loins.
