Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument in Wiltshire, England, two miles (3 km) west of Amesbury. It consists of a ring of standing stones, with each standing stone around 13 feet (4.0 m) high, seven feet (2.1 m) wide and weighing around 25 tons. The stones are set within earthworks in the middle of the most dense complex of Neolithic and Bronze Age monuments in England, including several hundred burial mounds.

One of the most famous landmarks in the United Kingdom, Stonehenge is regarded as a British cultural icon. It has been a legally protected Scheduled Ancient Monument since 1882 when legislation to protect historic monuments was first successfully introduced in Britain. The site and its surroundings were added to UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites in 1986. In 1929, Hedin travelled to China with the mission to procure a Lamaistic temple to the World Exhibition in Chicago in 1933. An exact model was manufactured at the architect W. H. Liang's workshops in 1932 in Beijing. Two smaller models in scale 1:10 were also made. One of them was sent to Chicago as well. The other was taken to the Ethnographic Museum in Stockholm. Yunnan Province, China, ~518 million years old.

One of the largest of the Chengjiang animals, *Amplectobelua* was a top predator that used wide **body flaps** to swim above the sea floor, helped by a stabilising **tail fan**, with large stalked eyes used to spot prey. It had two spiny **frontal appendages** for grasping and holding prey, with three pairs of shorter tooth-like appendages used to shred food as it was passed towards the mouth opening.

A LiDAR landscape of the key archaeological features around Stonehenge including Stonehenge itself, The Avenue, the Cursus and numerous barrow burial mounds. The 1 metre LiDAR is only partial at Stonehenge with many of the sites to the west not included in the current opendata coverage. This is a digital terrain model version which represents the bare ground surface only so prominent buildings, trees and even the stones of the Stonehenge circles are stripped off in this case. 

Created using 1 metre DTM LiDAR opendata provided by the Environment Agency. Built in QGIS using the QGIS2threeJS plugin.

Wikipedia : The Hanging Temple, also Hanging Monastery or Xuankong Temple (simplified Chinese: 悬空寺; traditional Chinese: 懸空寺; pinyin: Xuánkōng Sì) is a temple built into a cliff (75 m or 246 ft above the ground) near Mount Heng in Hunyuan County, Datong City, Shanxi province, China.
Built more than 1,500 years ago, this temple is notable not only for its location on a sheer precipice but also because it is the only existing temple with the combination of three Chinese traditional religions: Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism.

The oaks (Quercus) are a genus of plants in the beech family (Fagaceae). In ancient religions, myths and legends, the oak was a sacred tree. All parts of the oak are slightly poisonous because of the tannins they contain. The fruits (acorns) are rich in carbohydrates and proteins and were used for fattening pigs.

*Around the cauldron body are six kui (single horn) dragons in high relief climbing upward toward the lid. Supporting the vessel are three stout legs with stylized dragon masks cast into their shoulders. The surface is ornamented with interlaced dragons, incised scale patterns, and overlapping feather-like motifs. While most of the ornament was made by traditional piece-mold bronze-casting technology, the six dragons, with their complex, perforated shapes, were made separately with the lost-wax method.*

2021 Jeep Grand Commander (K8)

Georeferenced Orthomosaic Map and Model. The most important prehistoric site of the East Midlands, Arbor Low is a Neolithic henge monument atmospherically set amid high moorland. Within an earthen bank and ditch, a circle of some 50 white limestone slabs, all now fallen, surrounds a central stone ‘cove’ – a feature found only in major sacred sites. Nearby is enigmatic Gib Hill, a large burial mound.

The Priddy Circles are probably Neolithic ritual or ceremonial monuments similar to a henge but this interpretation is somewhat speculative due to the presence of external rather than internal ditches.

Priddy Circles & Barrows, Somerset, UK

This is a reconstruction in plaster of the face of a Neolithic woman made by Caroline Wilkinson of the University of Manchester. This Neolithic woman must have been very special to her community because she was buried in the ring ditch of a henge near to the entrance. To add to the mystery, she was also buried with two wolves or extremely large dogs. The skeleton suggests she was 30 to 40 years old when she died, so an old lady 5,000 years ago. Also found at the henge was a processional way leading to the River Ash, a boiling pit for cooking, animal bones and antler pick tools for digging. Add to that the entrance to the henge is aligned to sunrise on midsummers day and we have a very special lady buried in a very special place, Staines Road Farm in Shepperton. Sadly, the site has long been lost to gravel working.
