Salt and pepper is the common name for edible salt and black pepper, which are traditionally paired on dining tables where European-style food is eaten so as to allow for the seasoning of food. They may be considered condiments or seasonings; salt is a mineral and black pepper is a spice.

The pairing of salt and pepper as table accessories dates to seventeenth-century French cuisine, which considered pepper (distinct from herbs such as fines herbes) the only spice that did not overpower the true taste of food. They are typically found in a set of salt and pepper shakers, often a matched set. Salt and pepper are typically maintained in separate shakers on the table, but may be mixed in the kitchen. Some food writers, like Sara Dickerman, have argued that in modern cookery, a new spice could be used in place of black pepper.

Salt And Pepper Shakers

This is one of the most stunning places in the Paris catacombs. Built in the early XIX century, this fountain is located under the Luxembourg garden (at the place where once stood the great *Chartreuse* of Paris - a large monastery of the Carthusian religious order).

Louis Héricart-de-Thury (then the General Inspector of the Paris' underground quarries) built the fountain to drain underground water and better monitor the water tables. The water has a blue-green color thanks to some minerals. It's one of the best places to have a break during a night of underground exploration.

Paris catacombs: Fontaine Des Chartreux (1)

The horn of Salt Diggers Brotherhood of Wieliczka is a unique Renaissance work of art commemorating the past wealth of Kraków salt mines. It is the only historical object of its kind preserved in Poland – a genuine horn of the aurochs, an ancestor of present-day cattle (the species became extinct in Poland in the 17th century). Framed in silver, it features a number of precisely executed metalwork techniques. Weighing almost 3 kilos, it was created in Kraków in 1534. The figure shown in the horn’s base is a salt miner, depicted as Hercules wearing antique armour. This representation symbolically emphasises the hard work of the Wieliczka salt diggers, excavating the precious mineral for hundreds of years.

O Theatro Municipal , localizado na Praça Ramos de Azevedo teve suas obras iniciadas em junho de 1903. A construção levou oito anos para ser finalizada e foi projetada pelo arquiteto que nomeia a praça, Ramos de Azevedo. No ano de 1981 o edifício foi tombado pelo Conselho de Defesa do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico (Condephaat). O Arenito Itararé é a principal rocha de construção da fachada do Theatro Municipal, presente em toda a parte inferior, inclusive nos pilares esculpidos no formato de Hércules e Atlas. No entanto, é uma rocha frágil devido à presença de esmectita em sua composição (Grossi & Del Lama, 2018). A esmectita é um tipo de mineral expansivo que induz o desplacamento de blocos e sua subsequente rápida deterioração. Por conta disso o Theatro passa por diversos projetos de reforma, visando a conservação do estado atual da construção.

3D scan of a man that personifies quartz as a powerful mountain spirit rising directly from a cluster of sharp-edged crystal druses. In the tradition of romantic mythical figures such as Rübezahl, the bearded figure appears as an archaic guardian, inextricably linked to the mineral treasures of the underworld. 

The figure was created by Rudolf Weyr (1847-1914) and is part of the decorative program in Hall IV of the Natural History Museum.

Drosera capensis, the Cape sundew, is a perennial rosette-forming carnivorous herb in the flowering plant family Droseraceae. It is native to the Cape region of South Africa, where it grows in permanently wet, nutrient-poor habitats. Leaves are covered in stalked glands that secrete sticky mucilage. These attract, trap, and digest arthropod prey, obtaining nutrients that supplement intake from the substrate in which the plant grows. The plant is an autotroph that produces its own food in the green leaves by photosynthesis. The nutrients (like minerals N, P, Na, Ca etc)  absorbed from insects are not  plant food but essential miconutrients are used in the production of amino acids, necleotides  which are required for growth.

Sun Dew - Drosera Capensis

Drosera commonly known as the sundews comprises one of the largest genera of carnivorous plants. The genus includes annuals and perennials, large and small plants, and denizens of tropical, temperate, and polar habitats.  These plants lure, capture, and digest insects using stalked mucilaginous glands covering their leaf surfaces. The insects are used to supplement the poor mineral nutrition of the soil in which they grow. 
Drosera capensis commonly known as the Cape Sundew is a South African endemic species found exclusively in the Eastern Cape and Western Cape Provinces. Drosera capensis is a free-flowering, robust, carnivorous, evergreen perennial, of varying height, but usually around 15cm. The short, woody stems are rhizomatous below with well-developed roots. From December to January the 15-30, simple, pink-mauve flowers are borne on a single stem and mature in ascending order.

Loamata is a small, swamp dwelling matamata Pokémon that lives in wetlands rich with iron-heavy soil and sediment. Mineral laden mud clings to its head and shell, forming thick, drooping frills along the sides of its face. These frills are heavy, wet, and viscous, constantly sagging with moisture.
