The equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius is a larger-than-life bronze statue of the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius. Its original site is unknown, but it may have been part of a triumphal arch on whose attic it stood. According to medieval sources, a small barbarian figure kneeling in front of a horse was part of the statue. The dating of the statue, which was originally completely gilded, is disputed and fluctuates between the years around 165 AD with a reference to the triumph over the Parthians in 166 AD, the 170s with a reference to the Marcomannic Wars and a dating only to the time of Commodus' autocratic rule from 180 AD onwards. 

A cast stands in the city of Tulln an der Donau. The statue is intended as a reminder of the centuries-long presence of the Romans on the Danube border.

Full name: **Ner Tamid Lamp from the Great Synagogue in Oświęcim, Poland**

Known as Ner Tamid (Hebrew: "eternal light"), the lamp symbolises the presence of divine light and as such should be kept aflame in a synagogue at all times, regardless whether the temple is open. This tradition is a reminder of the everlasting menorah in the Temple in Jerusalem (also known as The First Temple).

The lamp on display was discovered, alongside other objects, during archeological excavations conducted in 2004 on the site once occupied by the [Great Synagogue in Oświęcim](https://muzea.malopolska.pl/en/articles/673), before it was razed to the ground by the Nazis in November 1939.

Located on the shore of [Plounéour-Trez](https://goo.gl/maps/j3MMCNg8Lzo), this cross from the XIXth century faces the Bay of Goulven - an ideal location for water sports or on-foot shell fishing depending on the tide - and is a reminder of the past strong religious culture of Brittany (a region of France).

In Breton, "Beg" means headland, and "Groaz" translates to cross.

HISTORY 

In the 1970s and 80s, Kai Tak had become famous for its Checkerboard Approach, a daring landing path that required pilots to aim straight at a giant red-and-white checkerboard painted on a hillside, then make a sharp right turn just seconds before touchdown.

Despite its challenges, Kai Tak was beloved. It was a gateway to the city’s neon lights, bustling markets, and endless energy. For many travelers, the moment the wheels hit the runway—water spraying from the harbor on both sides—was the moment they truly arrived in Hong Kong.

On July 6, 1998, Kai Tak’s final flight lifted into the night sky, its runway lights dimming for the last time. The airport closed, but its spirit never faded. Today, Kai Tak lives on in memories, photographs, and models like yours—reminders of an era when flying into Hong Kong felt like an adventure written in the sky.

Once known for helping patients feel at ease with laughter, Anne has become unhinged by the clinic’s corruption and now administers cruel electroconvulsive treatments with a manic grin, constantly shocking herself as she works. Her long, uncanny arms and buzzing, electric presence make her both a terrifying foe and a tragic reminder of how far the hospital has fallen. Anne embodies the horror of overtreatment: she treats suffering with brutality disguised as therapy, fearlessly bursting through doors to pursue intruders, defying common sense and medical ethics alike.

Within this cultural fusion emerged El Catrín, the elegant male skeleton inspired by early 20th‑century satirical art. Originally a critique of elites who imitated European fashion, he evolved into a symbol of Mexico’s unique relationship with death—stylish, unafraid, and self‑aware. Today, El Catrín stands as a reminder that history, identity, and mortality are all part of the same vibrant story.

Next to the parish church in Pinkafeld stands a stone crucifix commemorating the town's former cemetery. Until 1779, the cemetery was located directly around the church, as was customary in many places in the past. For hygienic and space reasons, the burial ground was later moved to a new location outside the immediate town center. The cross that stands today was erected in 1825 and symbolically marks the former cemetery area. Since then, it has served as a silent reminder of those who were once buried here and is an important testimony to the local history and historical townscape of Pinkafeld.
