In the United States, a SWAT (special weapons and tactics) team is generic term for a law enforcement unit that uses specialized or military equipment and tactics. Although they were first created in the 1960s to handle riot control or violent confrontations with criminals, the number and usage of SWAT teams increased in the 1980s and 1990s during the War on Drugs and later in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks. In the United States as of 2005, SWAT teams were deployed 50,000 times every year, almost 80% of the time to serve search warrants, most often for narcotics.

A grotesque lump of meat that has no hands or arms, this Ooze's only method of attack is to self-destruct, walking up to a victim and then somehow causing their bodies to explode violently. Whatever process causes this explosion is volatile, and the Chunk will also explode when killed by the player. This can heavily damage other enemies as well as the player.

In game: Static is a Wraith who is first encountered as a Restless Spirit in The Calamityville Horror, where he is bound to the aerial on top of the house's chimney.

Static was an electrician in life, and came to the Calamityville house to fix the antenna of the old woman who previously lived there. However, the lady offered him tea laced with arsenic, which caused him to become violently ill (he describes it as "his gut exploding") while he was still up on the roof. In his confusion, Static grabbed onto the chimney, but he lost his balance and fell down into it, where he would die soon after. By the start of the game, Static's bones are still stuck inside the house's chimney.

I'm usually more comfortable with darker and neutral colors, but when I saw the nonviolent weapon contest I really had to go out of my comfort zone for a weapon that not only functions nonviolently but appears that way as well! This challenge was a ton of fun! #WeaponChallenge

Jenny stands as a battle-worn sniper in a scorched desert battlefield. Heavy combat gear partially torn open, revealing skin marked by dust and heat. She holds a large-caliber anti-materiel rifle casually at her side while an armored hover-APC screams past behind her, kicking up a long violent trail of glowing orange dust and superheated exhaust.

Dreadroamers are highly xenophobic, filthy creatures who travel the stars in stolen fleets, attacking and murdering wherever they encounter life. Their pirate fleet usually consists of a variety of rag-tag vessels that have been captured from the other races. These vessels tend to be in poor condition and have often been overly-modified to suit the orc-like dreadroamer’s taste.

They are a violent, ugly species whose physical appearance varies quite a bit. They tend to be hideous, troll-like and non-symmetrical, and have cybernetically modified their bodies for war. Such is the nature of their biology that dismembered limbs will grow back through-and-around existing impediments in a matter of days. They commonly use this ability to graft weapons and gear to their (vaguely humanoid) forms.

The barrels are cut down to 10–12 inches, and the stock is often partially or fully removed. Ballistics are severely degraded: the shot spreads into a wide, unpredictable pattern effective only at 5–15 meters (15–45 feet). Recoil becomes sharp and violent due to reduced weight. Aiming is crude. It is useless for hunting but notorious as a close-quarters weapon. The single-trigger mechanism still works, but reloading is awkward without a full stock.
