The Hygieia Fountain is a lead-cast statue fountain created by Johann Martin Fischer and erected in 1787 at public expense. It stands in the forecourt of the Josephinum (9th District, Währinger Straße 25).

The depiction of the goddess Hygieia—symbol of health—directly reflects the function of the building behind it, constructed between 1783 and 1785 as a training institution for physicians and military doctors and today housing, among other facilities, the Institute and Museum for the History of Medicine.

The central figure is a calm, classically inspired female statue dressed in antique-style drapery, standing on a high pedestal. In her left hand she holds a bowl from which a snake drinks, while another snake coils around her right arm—traditional attributes of Hygieia. The pedestal and octagonal basin are made of stone, while the basin railing and water spouts, designed as Medusa heads, are crafted from metal.

Located in the heart of Panaji, Goa, the Boca de Vaca spring is a captivating historical landmark that seamlessly blends Portuguese colonial heritage with natural tranquility. Its name, literally translating to "Cow’s Mouth," refers to the traditional gargoyle designs that originally framed the water spout. For centuries, this perennial spring served as a vital lifeline, channeling sweet, fresh water from the aquifers of the Altinho hill to the residents of the capital.

Visitors can now walk through a long, atmospheric tunnel featuring robust glass flooring, which reveals the crystal-clear stream running beneath. EN: A small blue-white porcelain pouring vessel, with spout but missing the its neck, presumably Chinese, of a type also referred to as 'kendi'. Likely 17th century, making it quite a bit older than the 19th-century shipwreck it was found in. Dimensions: height 9.1 cm, largest body diam. 9 cm. Kept at the Dutch National Maritime Archaeological Depot at Museum Batavialand. Excavated from shipwreck NM20 (a freighter carrying buckwheat husks), found near Bant in the Noordoostpolder, the province of Flevoland, the Netherlands. Wreck date: 1815-1825.
