This approximately 4.5-meter marble statue was part of Pope Clement XI's commission for twelve colossal apostle figures to fill the niches designed by Francesco Borromini. Rusconi was among the leading sculptors involved, creating four of the statues. Depicting John as the youngest apostle, typically shown beardless, the work presents a solemn and pious figure. It blends Baroque drama with classical restraint, reflecting the artistic standards of early 18th-century Roman sculpture.
