The BMW i8 is a plug-in hybrid sports car developed by BMW. The i8 is part of BMW’s electric fleet “Project i” being marketed as a new sub-brand, BMW i. The 2015 model year BMW i8 has a 7.1 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that delivers an all-electric range of 37 km (23 mi) under the New European Driving Cycle. Under the United States Environmental Protection Agency cycle, the range in EV mode is 24 km (15 mi) with a small amount of gasoline consumption. Its design is heavily influenced by the BMW M1 Homage concept car, which in turn pays homage to BMW’s last production mid-engined sports car prior to the i8: the BMW M1. BMW will cease the production of the BMW i8 in April 2020.

BMW I8

This is a 3D animation ("Scallywag") of a juvenile green sea turtle (ID=CM1648) (*Chelonia mydas*) that was captured on December 23, 2016 by the Loggerhead MarineLife Center at Blowing Rocks Preserve.  The turtle was attacked by a shark, but survived.  It was photographed with the Beastcam technology with 20 Canon G16 cameras by Christine Shepard.

The 3D model was initially created through a photogrammetry scan using Capturing Reality.  Animator Jer Bot used Blender to reconstruct the full sea turtle from these scans, as well as animate the movements. Jeanette Wyneken from Florida Atlantic University, and Charles Mairne from the Loggerhead MarineLife Center provided feedback on the movements.

Model 46A - Subadult Green Sea Turtle

Photogrammetry capture of Southwark Borough Control bunker under the community plot at the corner of Vestry Road and Peckham Road, London.

These borough control centres were built during the cold war as a place to continue local government during an attack. Few survive in London today so this is a rare 3D record of one such bunker although it is in very poor condition, with flooding throughout.

This building at Skara Brae, Sandwick, Orkney dates from the late Neolithic (c.2900-2400 cal BC) and was the home to stone age farmers . This structure, known as House 1, was discovered after a storm in 1850.  The local laird William Watt excavated this building in the 1850s and1860s discovering a wealth of stone and bone tools.  

Following erosion in the 1920s a defensive sea wall was constructed and Prof. Vere Gordon Childe undertook further excavations.

The walls of this building survive over two metres high and the stone furniture remains in place.   A hearh lies at the centre of the building and a large 'dresser' faces the one metre high door.  The boxes around the sides of the room are bed compartments, which would have been lined with animal skins.  The small stone boxes were used for storage.

Neolithic House, Skara Brae, Orkney

House 2 is a Late Neolithic (c.3000-2500 cal BC) building at Skara Brae, Sandwick, Orkney.  The walls of this building survive over 2m high as it was buried by a sand-dune.

Carp are a large group of fish originally found in Central Europe and Asia. Various carp species were originally domesticated in East Asia, where they were used as food fish. Carp are coldwater fish, and their ability to survive and adapt to many climates and water conditions allowed the domesticated species to be propagated to many new locations, including Japan.

The outside world was unaware of the development of color variations in Japanese koi until 1914 when the Niigata koi were exhibited at an annual exposition in Tokyo.   

Koi or more specifically nishikigoi, are colored varieties of the Amur carp that are kept for decorative purposes in outdoor koi ponds or water gardens. Koi is an informal name for the colored variants of C. rubrofuscus kept for ornamental purposes.

An exceptionally valuable monument of sacred goldsmiths from the treasury of the Miechów monastery (Poland), which has survived to our times, is the richly decorated late-gothic silver chalice with a six-leaf foot. It is assumed that it was created around 1500, perhaps in a workshop in Hungary or in the capital city of Krakow. There are precious stones on the base of the chalice: sapphire, amethyst, ruby and emerald. In the upper part of the foot, figures of the Virgin Mary and an unknown saint are visible.

Female cargo outfit

This model was used in a rendered photo that I submitted to the 2018 (Edit: 2019) APS Metro show in Abuquerque as part of the "Digital Photography/Special Techniques" category. Unlike my CS:GO skins, this model was actually made by me. Made in Maya, and textured in substance painter, this NEC APC computer looks very nice in my opinion due to it's 4K screen and emissive map.  Weirdly enough I don't remember this project taking very long. The model and texturing probably only took 3 hours and was made during school. But I am typing this at 1:16AM so I dunno. Enjoy my model.

P.S. I included 2 STOS basic references for lolz as well as a motherlover one that didn't survive the resolution of one of the materials. Sad.

Edit: I don't know why, but this didn't make it in to the show. I honestly don't know why. Even if the picture sucked (it didn't) it should've made it in because of how few entries in the Computer Generated Art categories there were. Oh well. Enjoy my model.

Archaea have unique biochemistry and genetics, enabling them to survive in harsh conditions. They play crucial roles in various ecological processes, including nutrient cycling and methane production.

This Rolls Royce Merlin engine from a crashed World War 2 Hurricane aircraft and is now located in the Battle of Britain Bunker Visitor Centre, Uxbridge.

The plane was piloted by Peter Beverley Robinson and was shot down in June 1940 near Dieppe, France. The pilot survived and went on to fight in the Battle of Britain.

Merlin Engine

This is probably my most precious travel souvenir; it's a Balinese statue we brought back form Indonesia. It did not survive the plane check-in very well and suffered a bit of damage. If you look at the scan data carefully, you can see cracks here and there. The fingers and a tusk also broke during the trip home. Every time I see this statue, I’m transported back to the streets of Ubub.

Donnington Castle is a ruined medieval castle, situated in the small village of Donnington, just north of the town of Newbury in the English county of Berkshire. It was founded by Sir Richard Abberbury the Elder in 1386 and was bought by Thomas Chaucer before the castle was taken under royal control during the Tudor period. During the First English Civil War the castle was held by the royalist Sir John Boys and withstood an 18-month siege; after the garrison eventually surrendered, Parliament voted to demolish Donnington Castle in 1646. Only the gatehouse survives. The site is under the care of English Heritage and is protected from unauthorised change as a scheduled ancient monument.  The Reefback leviathan, or just the Reefback, is a large leviathan class organism which is very strange in its biology, having evolved drastically to survive attacks from now extinct predators. Often, the reefbacks can become centuries old, and have many species of coral and plants grow on its back, putting their roots into deep scars in the large chitonous back. The creature evolved this back, asbits just one chitonous large bone like structure, as opposed to the other evolutionary paths of a spine with multiple vertibrae. The Reefback has large fina that look like claws, but actually control where the creature turns. The reefback will produce booming calls and songs like earth whales, using 2 large mouths on its sides, which also filter microorganisms from the water. The bottom also has blue bioluminescent stripes, and a collection of enzyme pods, which have no real purpose. Often, resources can be found on its back.

Reefback

A World War 2 auxiliary water pumping station at the end of the L-shaped pier by the Anchor & Hope pub, Charlton, London.

These pumping stations were used to pump water from the river into the mains water supply to provide extra supply when putting out fires in nearby areas such as the docks. This is one of the last to survive.

Charlton Auxiliary Pumping Station

In 1652 during the revolts against the monarchy in Paris, the door of the town hall was destroyed. The new oak door was decorated with bronze meduse heads. 

This door survived the fire at the town hall during The Commune, on 24 May, 1871.

A TV set from the collection of objects found in the house of Szymon Kluger (1925–2000), the last Jewish resident of Oświęcim. 

Szymon was one of the Jewish residents of Oświęcim who survived the Holocaust and eventually returned to their hometown. Surprisingly, he did so in the 1960s, when the last remaining Jews were on the point of leaving the town in the face of mounting antisemitism and a growing sense of isolation.

The Fame of Hoorn wrecked during a storm in January 1631, she capsized and began to break up on the shallow sandbanks, all 45 crew survived the wreck but the ship was not so lucky. after the storm abated the locals pillaged the wreckage and the Poole Admiratly order the wreck to be cleared.

it is thought that this section broke off from the main site at this time and washed up on Studland Beach a few hundred metres to the north.

Maddoxtown Church ruin not far from Kilkenny along the old road to Bennettsbridge. It's not exactly in a great state. It is a small single-cell church building (no differentiation between chancel and nave), which seems to have been built using earth mortar construction with a lime mortar pointing and rendering. The earth mortar is exposed at the breach in the west gable. Only one window survives in the south wall. The south wall also has a buttress at its west end, the buttress on the north wall seems to have been collapsed, judging from the heap of stones there. The church was already a ruin at the time of the Down Survey (1650s).

There is also a beautifully carved baptismal font of the Ossory type still surviving in the graveyard (repaired). Worth a visit.

Classic SUV based on the Ford Escape and the Mazda Tribute. Did not survive long as Mercury got eliminated in 2011 and replaced by Lincoln.

2008 Mercury Mariner

Clomantagh Church ruin was recently tidied up and the walls repointed thanks to a grant from the Heritage Council, and the difference really shows. The church has a double bellcote at the west gable, a now partly blocked-up doorway in the south wall and a better preserved doorway in the north wall. The east gable features two lancet windows of which most carved stones no longer survive in situ. The south and north walls have two smaller windows each towards the east end of the church. The walls have an unusual amount of quite large putlog holes, some of which are now used by birds as nesting boxes. A few architectural fragments from the church can still be found in the graveyard and adjoining field.

It was quite a windy day, and I wasn't too comfortable with having the drone up too high, so the tops of the gable walls aren't great, but it still gives a general idea of the architecture and state of the building.
